(Reuters) - U.S. Staff Sergeant Kendrick Manuel swung his rifle over his shoulder and grumbled about being viewed as a "non-combat" soldier in Iraq.
"When NBC talked about the last combat troops are gone, they made it sound like everything is basically over," he said, after escorting a 19-truck convoy through a part of northern Iraq where roadside bombs and mortar attacks are still a danger.
"To us it was like a slap in the face, because we are still here ... we are still going in harm's way every time we leave out of the gate," Manuel said at a U.S. military base, Camp Speicher, near Saddam Hussein's home town of Tikrit.

like a slap in the face
Sadly, he’s right.
Prayers for all our warriors.
and we are still sending kids over with no protecion
Iran will now start infiltrating the population with insurgents until they take control. Much like they did when the Clerics took over Iran from the Shah.
They're still shooting at him a few times a week.
This smells of Vietnam all over again.
We know that you’re still at war over there and that you remain warriors not coaches. We’re thinking of you. Stay safe.
The troops are being led or misled by an imposter who says he is the CINC. Despite his best efforts and with the help of the State Sponsored media to promote his lies, we all know that our soldiers are still in harms way. It just sounds more politically correct, and it appeases his supporters to hear ‘combat operations are over’. America needs less kool-aid drinkers and more people willing to stomach the hard fact that wars are ugly. Making things ugly for the enemy is how you make it stop; not bowing, appeasing, and apologizing. Operating with our hands tied has caused things to become a quagmire just like Vietnam.
It was a slap in the face and it was intentional.
Your scenario will not happen because Sunni Insurgents won’t allow Shites to take over the country with zero Sunni involvement.
