The President's actions are so bizarre that they mystify his critics and supporters alike.
(snip)
But instead of readying us for the challenge, our President is trapped in his father's time machine.
Incredibly, the U.S. is being ruled according to the dreams of a Luo tribesman of the 1950s. This philandering, inebriated African socialist, who raged against the world for denying him the realization of his anticolonial ambitions, is now setting the nation's agenda through the reincarnation of his dreams in his son.
The son makes it happen, but he candidly admits he is only living out his father's dream. The invisible father provides the inspiration, and the son dutifully gets the job done. America today is governed by a ghost.

I agree that the article is not all that great. First of all, the point was made a year ago by an African woman, L. E. Igenga.
http://www.americanthinker.com/2009/06/obama_the_african_colonial.html
She argues that Obama, Sr., was not simply anti-colonial but a typical African colonial who hates whitey for colonizing his country yet, instead of embracing traditional African culture goes for an imported Western ideology, Marxism.
Second, some of D’Souza’s points are more persuasive than others. Some of the phenomena associated with President Obama could be just as well explained by causes other than anti-colonialism.
As with all “this explains everything” theses, it doesn’t. This anti-colonialism, hatred of America as Big Meanie, is part of who Zero is, for sure. But a good bit of that is found in the faculty lounges he has inhabited—there’s a whole generation of Americans who hate America without ever having experienced colonialism.
So, it’s a good article, certainly worth pondering, but Ikenga’s is even more helpful. And for 2010, I agree that Cordevilla Ruling Class article is, so far, the best.
Good read, thanks for the post.

Determining that has become a considerable problem at this point.
Nothing but sheer xenophobic nativism, but labeled "left wing" because of the skin color and homeland of the advocate.
There are two distinctive leftist ideologies: self-hatred, and self-worship. The "west" is offered self-hatred, decadence, globalism, internationalism, guilt, and iconoclasm. The "oppressed" are offered--basically--Nazism. It is accepted as anti-Nazism only because it is aimed against whites, but it is Nazism nonetheless. Self-worship, fanatical patriotism, iron discipline, and a romantic concept of the Sacred Motherland right out of Lord Byron's "Isles of Greece."
It is most ironic that it is politically correct to accuse Jewish nationalists of Nazism but not Black, brown, yellow, or red nationalists.
Well put. His whole life is pretense on several levels at the same time. So far he has got by learning how to put alien ideas into familiar language so that normal folk will accept them. He has always been a mouthpiece and a conduit for the ideas of others. Hence, the teleprompter he can never be without.
He hasn't done a day's work since he's been in office; he goes from speech to vacation to speech and on to another vacation. Other people write the bills and feed him the words he has to speak.
I agree that he is a strange amalgam of muslim, marxist, with layers of psychological problems on top of it all. But he can mimic normal well enough in public that as long as he doesn't have to think on his feet he can get by.
Sometimes I think back about GW Bush. He was always better when speaking straight from the heart than he ever was speaking from a teleprompter. I didn't agree with a lot of his policies but he was and is a genuine human being.
Watching some of the video clips of Bush from this weekend remind me of what a genuinely decent man he was, mistakes warts and all.
Wasn’t that the bitch that caused 9-11.....
Yes, Bush was decent and represented a sort of traditional US decency. But I was thinking just the other day that somehow Bush and his world now seem so far away, like part of another universe. So many very negative and very permanent changes have occurred in that short time since he left office that it now seems as if he was president decades ago (to me, at least).
D’Souza’s article is an “aha” moment. The man deserves a medal, and you should forward the article to everyone you know who can read. D’Souza makes a very good case explaining the weird, weird mixture of ineptness, ignorance and focussed action we’ve been watching. Obama’s not really working for the Democrats, or the “Progressives”. He has his own febrile agenda, and it’s against all of us. The article is required reading.
There’s no option but to neutralize and then evict him. Some Dems, those running for office at least, are coming to understand what happens when a man carries a malevolent dream into the command of a government.
Indeed it does. As I read the article, I waited in vain for D'Souza to add the Churchill bust piece to the puzzle. But, truly, the picture is complete without it.
Now you're finally starting to make sense.
Yep...sharing it everywhere I can.
bttt
Good article ...I want to read the book, too.
Zelig.
Evil certainly leaves its mark on faces.
I agree with you - he’s a hologram that someone is projecting.
There are several hands, but John Podesta’s is the most evident. Our real president is John Podesta.
