I moved to the country about 6 months ago. Back home actually. I don’t think people in this area will take to the idea of Government telling you where to live.
On the other hand, the criminals in our government are so D@#$ sneaky that average people won’t know what hit them until it is too late.
Life in these United States just seems sureal these days. I think your tagline is very appropriate for this situation.

It will not be as overt as the Soviet Union. Instead, living outside of the city will become ever more expensive via taxes and fees targeting such a choice.
For example, a restored farmhouse will be very expensive to sell if it requires $100K of work in order to meet Federal code.
