Once McCain and Graham get their amnesty gig passed, the USA should be numbah 1 in the poverty ratings! Woot! On the bright side, America has the fattest “poor” people in the world.

Poverty in the United States can include: widescreen TV, cable service, 1-2 automobiles, washer/drier, dishwasher, artificially lowered living costs, etc...

"In 2008, the poverty level stood at $22,025 for a family of four, based on an official government calculation that includes only cash income before tax deductions. It excludes capital gains or accumulated wealth."
This means that, should you inherit $1M, put one half of it under the mattress and another into a 6-month CD, you are below poverty level. Nice calculation: your poverty is determined not by what you already have (which is the definition of wealth) but how rapidly you add to your wealth. If you have $10M and keep them under the mattress, you receive zero income. This makes you extremely poor according to our government.

So where are the articles on “homelessness”, children going to bed “hungry” and all the other horrors we hear about during Republican administrations?
