$500,000 bail for released American in Iran (is that a bribe? payoff?)
AP ^

TEHRAN, Iran – A senior Iranian prosecutor said Sunday that authorities will release a jailed American woman on $500,000 bail because of health problems, another sudden about-face by Iran in a case that has added to tension with the United States.

----

Is this really a release? And did we just pay off a government in violation of our "no-negotiation" policy?

The mullahs have been laughing all weekend at our capitulation to Islam. Somebody pointed out that having Hussein order the military to call that idiot Gainesville pastor, and then apparently calling him himself, was essentially a declaration that sharia is in effect here and it is forbidden to criticize Islam.

The Iranian mullahs have taken the full measure of their co-religionist Barack Hussein Obama and have found him lacking. They know he is weak, is a pansy, is a pushover. Vladimir Putin does the same because he can read Obama like an open book

They have no reason to treat 0bama with respect and unfortunately this means they have no respect for America either... the nation fool enough to elect such a man. Mostly due to white guilt and the loony females who swooned over this snake oil salesman.

the appropriate response (if the USA had a President worth a damn) would be what Teddy R. said to that N. African bandit/kidnapper:

“This government wants Perdicaris alive or Raisuli dead”

[this telegram seemed to produce quick results as Perdicaris was released unharmed within a few days..... although later reports are that the bold telegram may have been mere PR b/c it turned out that the US govt. secrely knew that Pedicaris had renounced his US citizenship for Greek citizenship and the whole thing was getting murkier, but release of Pedicaris may already have been arranged by the time TR’s words became public]

According to the local news in San Francisco, the U.S. government has stated that it will not be taxpayer money that will be paying the bail. However, unless we get specifics, I have my doubts. As this “bail” requirement just came up this weekend, it would have been difficult for her family to come up with that money so quickly to give to the Swiss go-betweens.

(Semantic question: Is it taxpayer money if it is a U.S. government loan that, conveniently, is never repaid?)

After this young lady is released, what’s going to kill her is not to be able to go on the lecture circuit to talk about her experiences. While I’m sure she’ll say how great the Iranian “people” are, it would be too risky for her to say anything else that might offend the Iranian government by accident—at least until her other two friends are released.

A left wing celebrity who cannot open her mouth. How sad.

I see the same positive response from this administration to a hostage crisis as another.

so a hiker strays into a known terrorist nation,..surprisingly gets incarcerated,...U.S. pays $500,000 to release her,...$500,000 is used by Iran to make EFP (explosive formed projectiles) IEDs for use in neighboring Afghanistan,...6 american soldiers die. Hmmm...I wonder how the dead soldier’s families feel about paying their tax-paying dollars to free this hiker to kill their sons and daughters? But i guess i’m too harsh.
