Because people so wanted to believe.
I'm not talking citizen-type people. Surely someone or some group had the responsibility to fully and completely background check Obama and make sure he was/is qualified to be America's leader.
Snip: January 17, 2008 That was the first use in presidential campaign politics of an unusual word. After losing in Iowa Jan. 3, Sen. Clinton said of Sen. Obama, "Everybody needs to be vetted." Chief Clinton strategist Mark Penn, on the way to New Hampshire, said of his candidate, "She's fully vetted ... and I don't think that process has occurred with Barack Obama." Clinton then told a rally, "Of all the people running for president, I've been the most vetted, the most investigated and -- my goodness -- the most innocent."
Because people so wanted to believe.
Almost. You answered from the perspective of people who voted for him. Many of whom were indeed duped. The question was, "Why wasn't he vetted?"
Because the people who could have (and perhaps did) vetted him wanted what he was about to deliver. The democrat party, and others further back in the shadows, are as evil, if not more so, than he is.
And it would have been racist to question the credentials of a black man/sarcasm
Because people so wanted to believe.

The tragedy within the country is that so many STILL do want to believe.
"The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president."http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll (9/11/2010)
(for one example)
More than a quarter of the country "Strongly Approve"...truly amazing.
With all of the "awakining" that's been going on since 1/20/2009...there is still far too many sheeple in the country that haven't a clue, or perhaps do but are still looking for their gas and living expenses to be paid for by Barry.
