The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund has released its grades and endorsements for the 2010 election in Nevada. Absent from their assessment: one of the most important campaigns in the country, the United States Senate race between incumbent Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) and challenger Sharron Angle (R). (Click here to review NRA-PVF grades and endorsements.)
We know NRA announced it will not endorse Reid based on his support confirming anti-gun Supreme Court justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan. We also know at the time one of their PR flacks said they would not be endorsing anyone in the race, and I pegged that as "weaselly equivocation."
Why?
As a state-level candidate, NRA gave Angle an "A."
At the same time, NRA gave Reid a "B."
In every grading system I've ever seen, "A" wins.
So how does NRA reward that? By giving the Reid campaign thousands of dollars.

Everyone tries to tell me NRA has to stay apolitical.
This IMO is BS.
If your a pro 2nd organization you can not ever ever ever support a democrat or socialist democrat with even a dime or your time.
No cookie for NRA from me till they understand that concept.
My opinion...I vote with my dollars between elections.
Starve the beast...socialist democrats do not love this country. You can not support or vote for them an pretend you love these united states of America.
If you are judging based on results, the result is taking the agreement killed the bill.
I’m not the one blurring lines here. I am being precise, you are twisting the meaning of “support” to include not actiely working against it. And that’s a lie, no matter how you try to blur the line. The truth is they have always opposed the bill and still do.
Keep twisting the facts if you want... and your beloved group will continue to suffer for it... the backlash from 2A activists like me, and the many other Second Amendment groups killed the “Disclose Act”.
The govt saw that the bill would be knocked down in court by carving out such an “exemption”, and they pulled it for that reason.
Bend and twist all you want, what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong.
And let me give you my final thoughts on this subject, I have tried to reason with you using facts, you obviously have a problem with that...
So in the future I will keep this thread in mind, I have tried to be courteous and respectful in debating this subject with you, but when someone repeatedly calls me a lier... that will be the end of it, you can now continue arguing with yourself.
OK, my final word on the subject: I have been courteous to you, but you continue to claim that the NRA supported DISCLOSE, when they didn’t. That’s not an attack on you, it’s an attack on your statement. It is a lie, and I will call it one every time I see someone post it. If you truly cannot fathom the differnce between supporting something and choosing not to engage in a fight over it, then you may just be repeating a lie without understanding that it is a lie, which doesn’t make you a liar, just unclear on the meaning of the word support.
Keep believing the myth.
House Leaders Strike Deal With NRA on DISCLOSE Act

As long as the NRA got an exemption, they told House Democrats they would not oppose the bill.
So much for being a ‘one issue organization’ excuse trotted out by NRA supporters.
“In crafting the compromise, Democratic leadership, led by Rep. Chris Van Hollen (Md.), the architect of the bill, tried to steer a middle course between accommodating the NRA, which could single-handedly tank the package, and government-reform groups that wanted the narrowest exemption possible.”
So, the NRA had the power from the onset to kill the bill but chose not to.
By not coming out against it, they are supporting it. The NRA cut a separate deal, which threatens the first amendment rights of all of us. I lost all respect for the NRA is that crass display of political expediency. We can either stand together or hang separately.
I’m positive the NRA hates to throw Angle under the bus but facts are facts. If conservatives don’t want to do the hard work of getting a conservative Congress, then they have to keep reid because he’s a Second Amendment supporter. It would cost the gunowners millions of dollars and the loss of their Rights if he was replaced.
Headline: Free Republic supports Charles Schumer as the Congressional Majority Leader
I'm reminded of H.L. Mencken: "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit upon his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats".

you are 100% correct. my apologies. no need whatsoever for that stuff on my part, none at all.
those are the same 3 I contribute to since I dumped the nra. all 3 take some heat from the nra toadies that still are around but I feel good about each group and what and how they are going about things.
Joe, I could care less whether they thought it was a good idea to add something to a gun control bill they believed was palatable ... it was still GUN CONTROL legislation that they helped to pass... We have to get beyond this trash and stick to our guns, they are making back room political deals that you know are bad for the 2A movement as a whole.
As far as I can see the only resistance to cleaning up the NRA and its board are NRA Members... this must stop!
We can straighten the group up and get them solidly back into the 2A battle, but it will take members not making excuses when the NRA steps over the line, All of you making these lame defenses for the NRA seem like smart people... please take off the blinders, do the research and lets get everyone back into the battle.
Yours in the fight,
AOV
Right on Joe!!!
