Christine O'Donnell is within striking distance of beating longtime Rep. Michael Castle in the primary. The state party leader says if she wins, the Democratic front-runner will prevail in November.
Reporting from Dover, Del.
At a Tea Party Express rally last week, Christine O'Donnell bounded onto the stage and lit up the crowd with the same fiery style that has turned Tuesday's Senate primary into another battle for the future of the Republican Party.
O'Donnell, a longtime activist who has made a career of crusading for abstinence-based sex education and other conservative issues, is now within striking distance of beating one of Delaware's best-known public figures: Rep. Michael N. Castle, the tiny state's sole representative in the House for nearly 20 years and before that its governor for two terms.
If she succeeds, O'Donnell and her conservative allies will shake up the political landscape here in much the same way Joe Miller did in Alaska and Sharron Angle did in Nevada by winning their GOP Senate primaries.
"This isn't just about my candidacy," O'Donnell told several hundred cheering supporters in Dover. "It's about changing the political system. You don't need to be part of the establishment. You don't need to be an anointed one."

As with McCain, I would rather an actual and nominal Democrat win the election than an effective Democrat who is a nominal Republican.
Christine O’Donnell is doing us all a favor. Mike Castle is another Arlen Specter. Having that in the Senate is almost worse than a Democrat.
If this happens often enough do ya suppose the GOP might finally get the message?
if she wins, the Democratic front-runner will prevail
What the ..
How is that possible, first second how about the Frackn Repubs getting a a clue; having individuals like McShame their problem is not about new blood for they have to-date messed-up Borders, Language and Culture with being a bunch of pussies!
RINO season is in full swing!
RATs, too!
It seems to be happening often this year. Too bad not in AZ where I hope McCain gets his butt kicked.
This is fun, isn’t it?
“...get the message...”
How about the RINOs can start their own party, ROP; aka Roll over Pacifists
and all rub each other the right way to be happy.
She got a pretty big boost from Rush the other day didn’t she?
And another thing: This race is based on the false premise that Republicans are going to capture the Senate, so we must support Castle to "win the majority." A Castle victory doesn't necessarily mean the GOP will have 51 or more seats. It just means that there'll be another gutless RINO who'll give Zero and the Dems more cover and be more than happy to take the blame.
I have news for DE State Republican Party Chairman, Tom Ross. If Castle wins on Tuesday, I am voting for the Democrat in November. I am not alone and it will be HIS fault.
My money is on "no".
You are probably right. The few “moderates”—Snowe etc—would hold a Republican majority hostage on many issues.
Afraid you are right. So many Republican professionals are moderates like the characters that McCain assigned to Palin. Oil and water.

I don’t know much about Christine O’Donnell, but she sounds like the real deal, she’s easy on the eyes, and she’s Irish to boot. Let’s hope that the GOP continues to be shook up this november and beyond.
