IIRC, he said they visited him twice. We are definitely losing this war. The fact this guy backed down is a huge win for the muslims.
And backing down will insure a lot more deaths than following through would have. A lot more.
Just as it would have been pretty emotionally satifying to read how--when Jesus was hanging on that cross--those legions of angels He spoke about suddenly showed up and wiped out every member of the Sanhedrin and all the Romans who participated in His crucifixion. What a "Greatest Story Ever Told" that would have been.
And how often I find myself wondering--why couldn't it have ended that way? Of course, I have no clue! But I do have the BLESSED ASSURANCE that while in this life there will be "trials and tribualtion"--and the events of 9/11 were a sign of that truth, etched deeply and even indelibly on the walls of countless American hearts--those who put their trust in Christ are "more than conquerors". Not because of all the wonderful and mighty things we do in this life--but because of what Christ did for us when He went to that cross, without murmuring--and offered Himself as a sacrifice for our sins.
And it is God's LOVE that Christ taught those who would follow Him to show to to "thy neighbor". And true LOVE--which comes not out of human hearts but out of the HEART of GOD--is (to paraphrase Paul in 1Corinthians 13:4-8) patient, kind, it does not envy, does not boast, is not proud, is not rude, is not self-seeking, is not easily angered, keeps no record of wrongs, does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth, always protects [and that is the mission of the our precious military--my son included], always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres, and NEVER FAILS!
This is what the Apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the church at Corinth--and certainly Paul knew a little about "trials and tribulations". But Paul is the same man who wrote--"we are more than conquerors"--but only in Christ Jesus.
I KNOW this truth--it is etched very deeply in my heart, though the Evil One often succeeds in making it become blurry--especially when the tears come, as they do today remembering 9/11! But no matter what I think--it still remains the TRUTH! And the Truth--and the Truth alone--can set men free--even those who like the Scribees and Pharisees, and the Sheiks and Imams, hate it so much they think they have the right--and the power--to seek HIS destruction!
And we know--from reading the Book--that, at the end of the Day (I usually hate this expressions--but it fits here!)--the Kingdom of Heaven will prevail--even against the GATES of HELL--which the Twin Towers of the WTC might have seemed to open nine years ago today.
Nevertheless--LOVE NEVER FAILS--and it is the duty of those of us who see this nation as being founded on a CHRISTIAN faith to, as Paul urges, "speak the truth in love". The Pastor who has threatened to burn the Koran may feel he is speaking "truth"--but his actions might be heard around the world, and not just the Muslim world, as a "resounding gong or clanging cymbal" unstead of the hymn of praise to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
And that's all I have to say about this! Except--God bless my fellow Freepers--especially those who were here on the thread on 9/11 and, like me and my beloved 1John (passed away less than a year later), shared our thoughts and prayers on that horrible day. May God give us all His COMFORT this day--and ALWAYS!
Well all I can say is to hell with the koran and the camel dung muuzzies. The Preach got his bluff called and should have just burned the pedophile booklets.
