Senator DeMint tweets:
"I'm proud to endorse Ovide Lamontagne for US Senate in New Hampshire. He's a proven conservative"
I agree with Senator DeMint and will proudly cast my vote for Ovide.
Does he have a American birth certificate???
Were his parent here legally???
Admin Mod Pull this if it is in bad taste.

What kind of name is Willie? Why would your parents name you after an appendage?
I’d vote for institutionalized, especially if they vote for her now.
He is a good and descent Man and not a Go Pat Go clown like you were.
Olvide may or may not be a good and decent Man.
One cannot tell by his stated positions on his campaign website because they are overly simplistic.
His statement regarding jobs and the economy are shallow without mentioning the detrimental effects of current trade policies. And while he scores some good points on energy production, he fails to follow through with common sense proposals on energy consumption.
Your knee jerk reaction is idiotic and a poor reflection on Ovide. But I won't hold it against Olvide until I see more credible information of where he stands on these issues.
What kind of name is Willie?
"Willie" is the shortened form of a variety of English/Germanic names that are closely related in origin, including Wilbert, Wilbur, Wilfred, Wilhelm, William, Willis, Wilmer, Wilson and Wilton.
Why would your parents name you after an appendage?
They didn't.
I was named after my father.
My father was named after my grandfather.
My grandfather was the first generation of my paternal lineage to be born in America.
He was named after William McKinley, who was the GOP President of the United States the year that my grandfather was born.
IOW, my grandfather was Willie McKinley Green.
My father was Willie McKinley Green Junior.
And I became Willie Michael Green because my Mom didn't like the name "McKinley", so I got a different name with the same initial. Which was close enough to keep everybody happy. LOL!!!
I still ain’t voting for him.
If that’s that important to you then what Tom Coburn says should be as well. Tom Coburn is absolutely my favorite US Senator these days.
I don't know him and haven't followed him to know, if he meant it as a joke.
I don't know him and haven't followed him to know, if he meant it as a joke.
LOL! Well the part about his parentage and birth certificate was a tongue-in-cheek parody of the "birther's" obsession with Obammy's pedigree.
At the same time, I'm certainly not the only average American who's scratching his head, wondering what kind of name "Ovide" is.... I never heard of anybody called that before. And it's not recognizable as some African, Hispanic, Oriental, Asian or some other foreign origin that I'm more familiar with.
And when I Googled it I discovered that the only other usage of "Ovide" is as a brand name for some kind of chemical treatment for head lice!!!
So now I think Little Asshole needs to apologize to me, and explain to me what kind of people name their kid after an insecticide.
And while we're at it, we'll give ol' Sparky a chance to do some explaining as well.
I asked Ovide about the gun issue and here's how he explained it to me: first of all, he's a life-long gun owner who has gotten high marks from the GOA and GO-NH. It's only the NH Firearms Coalition that seems to have a problem with him.
Ovide told me that the controversy stems from his interest in promoting a bill that would impose higher penalties on people who used weapons of any type in the commission of a felony. What the legislative committee came back with was a "Guns-Free School Zone" type of bill, which was not what he wanted or asked for. They ended up working to change it and got the legislation through in a form he could support. Ovide further described the NHFC's charge as a "smear campaign" and that his 2nd Amendment credentials are rock-solid.
In any event, I just got back from voting and the primary turnout was much higher than in the recent past. I guess we'll see what happens tonight!
Andy
I haven’t voted yet and believe it will be Ovide, but his neo-con/neo-lib answer to the war question bothers me. Why do “Conservatives” get this Constitutional question wrong every time? The Congress declares war not the Executive.
Lamontagne versus Ayotte.
Sounds like a French election.
On the other hand, I think President Bush may have erred in not insisting that Congress declare war on Iraq. We definitely had a geopolitical interest in supporting a regime change in that region, regardless of the WMD's. The way it was carried out however, left a lot to be desired, especially once we removed Saddam.
Afghanistan is another matter. Some days, I can't figure out why we're still there. All I see is brave young guys getting blown up by roadside bombs for a cause that has never been properly defined. I started out as a supporter of the war, but as time goes on, I'm having serious doubts about how we are fighting and for what reasons.
A vote to specifically authorize funding for the purpose making of war against an enemy is a declaration of war.
My state required me to "declare" my commitment to my wife when I was married. I did not use the word "declare." Is it your opinion that I am not married?
The Congress communicated very clearly what they were doing, that amounts to a declaration.
Welcome to New Hampshire. ;-)
That’s a cowardly way to “Declare” a War and is wrong on every level. You stood-up in Public and announced to the World your I-Do to the Officiator, shouldn’t I expect the same from my elected representative?
