Nearly 100,000 German citizens were killed in the fire bombing of Dresden. Today if a pilot lets a bomb go at the wrong time, he is charged with murder.

There is a marked difference in bombing Dresden pursuant to orders from the chain of command to rogue acts of soldiers allegedly shooting civilians for sport.
