Nine years ago today, at a selectman's meeting in Amherst, MA, UMass professor comments on display of the flag in the town.

“What the flag is, is a symbol of terrorism and death and fear and destruction and oppression… To many, many ordinary people in countries around the globe, the U.S. has done terrible things. If I think of the flag, I have to think about it from the point of view of those people.”-- UMass Prof. Jennie Traschen, Monday, September 10, 2001

Hating America because you believe your tyrannical leaders’ lying propaganda about America being the oppressor = perfectly understandable, not reprehensible in any way.

Hating Islamic countries because you KNOW they are human rights disasters and a threat to civilization = Blind, ignorant, irrational, stupid, bigoted, intolerant, “Islamophobic.”

I guess I’m not elite and edumacated enough to understand the logic at work here.

Amherst is a thriving hotbed of incredibly stupid notions, thanks to the many institutions of higher learning that make the area their home.

Hey! Why not become a Doctor of Social Justice at UMass! While science, engineering, and math remain strong at UMass, the social sciences and humanities have been abandoned to the shrieking man-haters, the stupid, the criminal, the violent, and the America-haters. Then UMass whines that contributions from alumnae are unsatisfactory.
