Topeka church says it will burn Qur’an

Topeka’s Westboro Baptist Church announced tonight that it plans to burn the Qur’an and an American flag on Sept. 11, though the exact time and location haven’t been determined, a church spokeswoman said.

The burning would occur the same day that a Florida pastor had threatened to burn Qur’ans, which drew condemnation from President Obama, religious leaders and others.

Shirley Phelps-Roper, who announced Westboro Baptist’s plan, said they don’t think that pastor, Terry Jones, will carry out the burning.

I suppose I don’t see the problem with burning any religious text. I don’t see a problem with burning anything in protest, and the Muzzies have a tendency to burn American flags and the bodies of throat-slit Christians.

But let’s not consider those facts. It’s more important that we might inflame the Muzzies in our theaters of war.

I don’t think they actually hate the United States. What they are protesting is that the US, they feel, has abandoned it’s Biblical roots and no longer deserves to be revered as a place of respect. This is most evident in their protests of military funerals where they voice their opposition to having homosexuals in the military.

If it were another church, then I would think that their motivation was to tie liberals in knotts. However given that it is Phelps, then I think they are just tools.

That's what they say, but it is a load of crap. Hell, they don't even use the Bible, they are cultists known as Tachmonites who have their own scripture divided into two categories: "delectable epics" and "letters to heretics." The "delectable epics" (the term is the group's) are based loosely on Acts in the New Testament. The epics detail the Tachmonites' various protests against gays, President Bush, Elton John concerts, and the military and portray the Tachmonites alternately as invincible "super heroes" and defenseless victims of brutal rage. Some of the epics are in prose, and some in poetry. They believe Phelps is "the last prophet," with the power to determine who will be damned and who will be saved. They themselves, as followers of Phelps, also have the power to condemn souls to hell.

Oh yea, and they are rabid libs as well. Phelps has run for office as a Democrat several times and has worked for and is friends with Al Gore.

Their theology is a cross between Branch Dividians and the Discovery Channel shooter.

Shirley Phelps-Roper is reportedly calling Jones a poseur. Fred Phelps’ daughter told the Star that Westboro’s was burning the Islamic religious text on a Washington, D.C., street back in 2008. “We did it a long time before this guy,” Phelps-Roper told the Star...

“They’ll browbeat him and he’ll back down at the last minute,” she said. “He’s an apologist. He doesn’t serve God.”
