Sarah Palin: Quran burning insensitive and un-American
CNN ^ | 9/9/10 | Steve Prothero

Posted on 09/09/2010 11:39:42 AM PDT by pissant

Yesterday, I called on Christian politicians who had opposed, on the grounds of “sensitivity,” the Islamic community center in Lower Manhattan to denounce the insensitivity of the pastor provocateur Terry Jones, who is planning to burn Qurans at his Gainesville, Florida, church on September 11. I also called out Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich by name.

Today, Sarah Palin, at least, weighed in.

On Twitter, she wrote, “Koran Burning Is Insensitive, Unnecessary; Pastor Jones, Please Stand Down.”

On Facebook, she spelled out her position in more detail:

Book burning is antithetical to American ideals. People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation

.....– much like building a mosque at Ground Zero.

I would hope that Pastor Terry Jones and his supporters will consider the ramifications of their planned book-burning event. It will feed the fire of caustic rhetoric and appear as nothing more than mean-spirited religious intolerance. Don’t feed that fire.

I am still waiting to hear from Newt Gingrich.

Oh, I’ve got you figured out, dhimmi,
but just wanted to put you on the spot.

Your non-answer is enough answer for everyone here.

You were all over threads last night, why post ANOTHER TODAY, "possessed"?

The reason not to burn Qurans is that it's unkind -- not to jihadists, but to Muslims who mean us no harm. The same goes for building a mosque at ground zero -- in both cases, it's not a question of anyone's "rights," it's just a nasty thing to do.

Help spread the word about Palin and Obama and Mitt and Mahmoud all being on the same page.

Your ‘ends justify the means’ tactics are no better than any Saul Alinsky community organizer. You are dishonest. It’s one of the reasons that so few take you seriously.

Maybe Mitt and Sarah can go down to his church together and talk him out of it.

In your dreams, possessed troll, and yes, you've reached troll status.

Why don’t you defend Palin’s inanities instead of calling names.

Oh, no, you’re honest about your feelings. Just dishonest about how you try and back it up. You are no better than a street thug community organizer. There is nothing that is beneath you in your quest to destroy everything in the path of what you want.

It’s a shame. You might have valid input if it weren’t tainted by your tactics.

And BTW, let’s not go trying to paint ME as some kind of idol worshiper. I haven’t even made a decision on 2012 yet. It’s YOU who slobbers all over your 1% candidate like some limp-wristed golden retriever, not me.

Did you get all huffy on the ‘Mitt tells pastor not to burn’ threads, or do you save those for Precious’ posts.

And FWIW, I support all strong conservatives. Hunter was by FAR the best last time. This time it’s looking like he might get some conservative company. DeMint and Bolton come to mind.

No need to defend her. She’s right, Coulter’s right, and you’re just a possessed troll, easily manipulated by the media, just like Rush opined today and asked “Where was the media when Sarah’s church was burned?”

My church’s lay leader made a great point about this Tuesday night at a board meeting. God doesn’t want us to burn books, he wants us to practice love for fellow man. God wants us to leave the burning to him.

If I decide to delete the Q’ran from my Kindle, should that not be the same as burning a hard copy behind a country church? If so, should I contact CNN first?

Were you honest in the way you portrayed whatever Slick Willard said? If so, then I’d have no reason to get ‘huffy’ about anything.

If you truly believe you are on the side of righteousness, you shouldn’t need to use slimy tactics like cutting that sentence off as you did.

It’s nice that you’ve expanded your list of acceptable candidates. I doubt Bolton would be interested, nor do I have any clue how he is on domestic policy, but he’s solid on foreign policy. He might be a touch too Wilsonian for my taste to be in charge of everything, but to each his own. DeMint is a good man. I don’t think he’s going to run, but I’d welcome him if he did.

Sorry, the whole Kindle’s gotta go up in flames or you’re just not a true conservative. :p
