WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is exhorting a Florida minister to "listen to those better angels" and call off his plan to engage in a Quran-burning protest this weekend.
Obama told ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview aired Thursday that he hopes the Rev. Terry Jones of Florida listens to the pleas of people who have asked him to call off the plan. The president called it a "stunt."

Absolutely a stunt. No one that really just wanted to burn the books, would have a need to tell the world weeks before he did it. He would simply do it, record it, and put it out for everyone to see and claim responsibility. The guy has played practically the whole world with this stunt. Symbolism over substance. The book burning is symbolic. No actual people are injured. The daily violence is real. Actual people are killed, raped, stoned or hanged.

Islam is theocratic political system that is incompatible with Western values (which has given countless peoples liberty and opportunities). I don't trust any Muslim. The so-called "moderates" are often found not to be so moderate. We find that almost every day.
Disclaimer: I am a deist and don't subscribe to any religion. I don't need anyone to remind me "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Simple human compassion and empathy, however it developed or was created, is enough for me to appreciate the value of that axiom. If you don't have those traits and cause or support the above atrocities, you are not human and simply a sentient being and need to die early.
We all die, so don't bother me with "every human life is worthwhile" bleeding heart BS. Think MS-13, Bloods, Crips, Mongols, al-quida, Taliban, et al. Let them ALL just vaporized yesterday and let the rest of us live in peace.

Because he probably has an opinion, like everyone else, and if he didn’t, freepers, along with lots of other people, would say he’s not saying anything about it, because he hates America. Also, his general said it would be bad for the troops and if he didn’t back up his general, then people would say he hates our troops. He probably won’t say it about other religious symbols, because they do not generate anywhere as near as much interest/publicity/emotions, as this.
It’s funny, isn’t it, how every single time isslam deliberately provokes us, and they do so on a regular basis, we’re told to simply roll over in the name of “tolerance” yet, on the very rare occasions when somebody has the nuts to turn the table and provoke right back, we’re being the “unreasonable” ones.
Hardly a day goes by where we’re not lectured by the Liberal Media and various and sundry other blockheads who think themselves our “betters” on how we need to “understand the other side’s grievances” and put their behavior in “cultural context”, behavior that is always attributed to an infinitesimally small extremist minority, even when they march in the millions in cities all over the world, pillaging and murdering as they go.
And then, when somebody on our side has the testicular fortitude to say “enough is e-NOUGH!” and see how that “minority” likes being spat in their faces, nobody is interested in “why we hate them”, we’re just being fanatical bigots who really ought to be locked away lest we provoke the allegedly peaceful religion of isslam to violence. Anybody see a logical disconnect here? If not, please go to the back of the class and shut up while those of us with a brain try to have a conversation.
When we commit a provocation that amounts to burning a handful of books, we invoke the wrath and hectoring of every pea-brained blowhard “enlightened” chowderhead out there yet, when they commit the provocation of wanting to erect a victory monument to the “religion” in whose name 3,000 of our countrymen were brutally murdered right next door to the place they were murdered, not a peep comes from those clownshoes except for calling anybody who thinks it’s insensitive all of the worst names they can think of.

Judging from their coverage of the Florida preacher who plans on burning a quran the answer is yes, they would.
Would they respond in the same way if I announced that I was publically going to spit on and put a crucifix in a jar of urine? Well, we already know the answer to that one.
