WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama is exhorting a Florida minister to "listen to those better angels" and call off his plan to engage in a Quran-burning protest this weekend.

Obama told ABC's "Good Morning America" in an interview aired Thursday that he hopes the Rev. Terry Jones of Florida listens to the pleas of people who have asked him to call off the plan. The president called it a "stunt."

I’m guessing that this guy down in Florida is not a big fan of Hussein.

Why doesn’t he implore the imam to move his mosque? The minister is waiting for a “sign” ... That might be one.

If Obama was consistent he’d recommend the Pastor move his Koran burning demonstration to across the street from The Ground Zero Mosque.

For once in my life, a part of me kinda sorta agree with Zero (can’t believe I wrote that). OTOH, when the Muzzies start getting upset about suicide bombers, honor killings, burning Bibles, beheadings, etc etc etc, then I’ll start getting upset about burning their holy precious Koran.

Maybe the minister can cut a deal with “O”

I wouldn’t personally burn a Koran, but for the President to try to argue away a 1st amendment right...maybe he needs to stop reading the Koran and start reading the Constitution.

"And as a very practical matter, I just want him to understand that this stunt that he is talking about pulling could greatly endanger our young men and women who are in uniform," the president added.

FUBO!!! Like you give a rat's azz about them. They're only good for a sound bite or a photo op when you need it. I hate this miserable pr*ck.

So why does Obama support the mosque at ground zero under the auspices of the 1st Amendment, but request that the pastor not burn the koran, which is protected by the same 1st Amendment?

No wonder 1/4 of the people think he is a muslim.

A consistent view would be that neither should be done, because both are unnecessarily provocative. Not quite shouting "FIRE!" in a crowded theater, but close.

I was on the fence before, but now I definitely support the pastor. Burn ‘em bright!

I mentioned this yesterday and it's even more obvious today ...

The church has 50 members.

50

Five O

It's a podunk, nothingsville little family church out in the middle of redneck country Florida. Under any normal political climate this would hardly have made it to the back page of the local newspaper with a circulation of 5 ( all who can probably read ).

But since we have to paint the "gun hugging religious folk" in this country as threats to society it gets inflated into a big BLEEPing deal.

I wouldn't have given this story two poops ... but now I'm all in for the pastor and his teaming throng of 50. Don't back down. Get the book deal. Retire in the hills somewhere and enjoy the popularity the media provided you.

It’s revealing that this matter requires Obama’s personal attention.

Would Obama be “imploring him” to stop If the reverend was burning American flags? Or bibles?

I think not.
