A leading banker jumped to his death after snorting cocaine at a party thrown to welcome him back from abroad, an inquest heard today.
Neil McCormick plunged sixty feet and landed on rubble after he was spotted walking in circles and mumbling 'guys, dont do this to me', the court heard.
Mr McCormick, who had used cocaine regularly since studying at Oxford University, moved to Hong Kong last September with his wife Diana and baby son.
In June, the 36-year-old head of Asia Equity derivatives at UBS returned home for a wedding. The day after the ceremony, friends held a barbeque in his honour.
But after treating himself to steak and a beer, the banker was seen by Connor Kelly, the owner of the house in Holland Park, west London, snorting a line of cocaine from a plate in the kitchen.

“Dude, I told you, don’t cut the stuff with LSD!”
After going for a nap, Mr McCormick appeared confused before he went to the patio on the fourth floor and vaulted across some potplants on to scaffolding where he jumped to his death.
When he got up from his nap he came in, circling around the intermediate area between the sitting area and kitchen, circling around there mumbling to himself, said Mr Kelly, who claimed his friend had not always reacted well to drugs.
I was concerned because he seemed upset. I know that Neil could get a little bit paranoid at times and he seemed a little bit paranoid, he said.
He walked around the room and then out onto the balcony... I followed him just to find out what was wrong.
[He didn’t respond when I called to him, and then I watched as he stepped one of his feet out onto the balcony.]
‘Just for the briefest moment he steadied himself before he stepped off.’
Actually you would have to search first. Upon finding no more party favors would anyone be called.
Whatever the merits, or lack thereof, of Mr. McCormick, I hope that God will take care of his wife and their baby son.
Just another victimless crime.
Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

I have heard more than one say that the only thing wrong with cocaine is that there isn’t enough of it. Most of them are dead now.
Why are there so many bankers named McCormick? Was he related to the the Northern Trust McCormicks?
“If we can get one banker to jump to his death, can’t we get them all to do it?”
JUST KIDDING! :)
Prayers up for the baby & widow.

...just a thought....
What's your response?
Nothing in anyone’s 401K or IRA is in Asian Equity derivatives.
Perhaps not, but a lot of IRAs and 401Ks are controlled by UBS. I’m sick of the way they manage mine, and I’m going to be making a change. Perhaps more than this guy are spending their time snorting coke.
No kidding. A derivatives manager taking the big plunge makes me wonder what he knew and who he knew it about.
Your post is 100% insightful. And note that now, just over a week later, this UBS bank has gone public about a $2 billion loss by a ‘rogue trader’ ....
