Presumed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney came out Wednesday against the planned burning of the Quran by a Florida pastor, saying that doing so would endanger American troops.
Burning the Quran is wrong on every level, the former Massachusetts governor said in a statement to POLITICO. It puts troops in danger, and it violates a founding principle of our republic.

LOL, how did you confuse some nut case thinking that FR threads are private chat rooms for only handpicked posters, with religion?
Embrace your socialist, fool.
At least Romney blasted LOST. Unfortunately Precious had no clue what it was and begged Congress to pass it.
And look who it was who brought Palin into this thread and discussion... once again, predictable.
I can’t stand Flipper, but you know that.
A Romney/DeMint ticket isn’t something that we need to mock or make fun of, it is merely a political reality that we need to start looking at and evaluating.
It is time to start looking at the future political situations.
Leave it to you to excuse an outright pro-choice, pro-gay, anti 2nd amendment and pro government healthcare liberal with an R behind his name.
It’s OK for Flipper and Palin to both be on the same page. In fact it’s not unusual at all.
Already evaluated. No Rommey. Period.
Nor is it unusual for you to cry about all the Palin threads and mentions, etc., when you as of late are one of the biggest offenders. Geez, if you need attention that bad, get a dog. Or a girlfriend.
ROFL. I thought Romney ‘evolved’ to prolife. That’s what he claims anyway. LOL. At least he made up some weak story about how he saw the light. I’ve yet to see Palin reject her amnesty plans or her “we must do something” about “real” global warming, or for that matter TARP. Come to think of it, they are two peas in a pod.
Want in one hand and take a dump in the other.
See which one fills up first.
If you say so, cultist. You’ve posted more Palin threads than me, so...
Your boy DeMint loves Romney. Funny, that.
Yet only one of us is an ankle gnawing stalker. I can’t remember the last time I posted to you out of the blue.
“War is insensitive.”
Indeed. Nice to see someone who actually “gets it”.
I’ve been following the various “Quran burning” threads for a while, haven’t had much to say about it. Perhaps this is the place.
Yes, war is insensitive. It often involves brutal acts. Hmmm — I should have left out the “often” part. All-out war is inherently brutal. Usually the side that is willing to be the MOST brutal emerges as the winner. This is how it works: you win by breaking your enemy, not only physically, but spiritually as well.
Crushing the enemy’s spirits can be the key to winning. I recall reading that even after the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, the Japanese warlords wanted to continue fighting. Faced with such devastation, they still had at least some “will” to continue, no matter how many Japanese lives would be lost. It took the second bomb at Nagasaki to break them.
But even the strongest spirits can be shaken by symbolic acts, as well.
The West needs to demonstrate to Islam that it cannot win. More than that — Islam must realize that it is a deadend, that the “god” Muslims worships is false, and that there will be no tolerance or acceptance of what Islam advocates in The West.
Islam is anathema to all that comprises the culture of The West. 180 degrees. All that we embrace, they despise. Given the opportunity to do so, Islam will do all in its power to make The West disappear.
If we are to survive — and I don’t yet believe that The West has demonstrated that it has the will to do so — we must demonstrate to Islam that what it represents will never be accepted nor tolerated here, that what Islam represents is reviled by us.
The pastor of that little church down in Gainesville has it right.
What better way to demonstrate such resolve than by a symbolic act that cuts to the heart of Islamic belief — to symbolically destroy and desecrate the false idol of Islam by burning its creed?
If doing so was not a powerfully symbolic action, this debate wouldn’t even be taking place.
We can embrace the symbolism, and by thus doing embrace the Cause of The West. Or we can cower while those who WON’T defend The West try to intimidate us for having the temerity to defend ourselves in what is destined to become humanity’s most (and perhaps final) existential struggle.
Gentlemen, who brought the matches?
Aw, poor baby. You’re usually the one doing the stalking, McGinnis.
