Documents say scholarship money should go to her relatives
Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson apparently asked the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation to send scholarship checks directly to her two grandsons and two greatnephews, rather than to their colleges.
Johnson has insisted repeatedly that she left scholarship decisions to aides.
But two letters she sent the foundation from 2006 undermine claims that she wasn’t involved in obtaining $31,000 for her relatives and two other ineligible recipients.

Scholarship money...Goes to the school for tuition first and THEN any leftovers to the student for incidentals - like dorm and books. The PERSON WHO ISSUED THE CHECKS to the students should be fired and charged with mishandling of funds!

If possible I would like for their checks to be made out to them instead of the University," Johnson wrote in one letter to the foundation, providing the Plano home address for her great-nephews, Preston and Gregory Moore.

I see no difference in her and a bank robber that writes out a robbery note on the back of one of his own personal checks.....
And since it was considered taboo to look into the handling of funds provided minority agencies the oversight of all agencies has fallen by the wayside as resources became more and more scare. As with most government programs things end up being bass ackwards. In the business world when resources become scarce they are more carefully monitored. Not so with government.
Every single program that provides tax funds should be audited very carefully. Too bad if the cost reduces the amount of graft available.
The DMN is doing a great job on this. However, the fix is in and the MSM is largely ignoring the story.
How about fraud charges & jail!!
Officials at the House ethics committee and the Office of Congressional Ethics, which also looks into allegations of wrongdoing by U.S. House members, have declined to say whether Johnson's actions will be investigated.
I hope jail follows all charges!
By the way, did the kids even bother to show up at the colleges?
