Cup of Serenity would like to apologize to TraidMommies, and to all breastfeeding mothers for the incident in our store yesterday. We are in full support of the planned nurse-in and will also support a "Breastfeeding Friday," and breastfeeding at anytime. We hope to turn our mistake into a way to help mothers everywhe...
Mission Accomplished!
I have nursed four infants. It is completely possible to nurse modestly without anyone in a coffee shop noticing. ( Maybe another experienced nursing mother may be aware.)
Thankfully, I had a very supportive husband. His philosophy was, “Feed that baby if it’s hungry and **don’t** leave the room just because someone is hypersensitive.”
Oh, I have. It’s still not very salient. It’s not like they rip their shirts off and do it bareback.
women who have some sense of manners and self respect have a small light blanket they cover up so nobody sees anything while feeding the baby.
I think those who let it all hang out are just looking for validation and attention. “SEE WHAT I CREATED ALL BY MYSELF!!!!!” (Daddy who?)
That’s called a Lactation Station these days, pardner.
Express Yo’sef. Ungh!
From what I have seen and read there is no indication that this woman was not using a cover, and there is no indication that a modesty covering is sufficient to avoid the “that is disgusting and you should do it in private” element.
If the woman was using a cover, then she WAS showing tasteful consideration for others. But apparently not enough for some. For some, even if they don't see anything, just knowing it is going on offends them.
They are mental.
No we aren't, we just have a greater sense of modesty.
Women are not men. Yes, thank God! Now that we have the obvious out of the way, do you think naked breasts are inherently immodest and offensive?
When the Athenian women met the Spartan women they were SHOCKED at their “immodesty”, for the Spartan women wore short skirts while the Athenian women wore long skirts. To the Athenian women the Spartan women were immodestly showing off the legs, those long supple legs that led right up to.... you know where!
So where the Spartan women immodest? By Athenian standards they certainly were.
But by our standards, it would be the Athenian women who were immodest - because they went about with breasts uncovered and often painted nipples.
Now imagine, if you will, a bunch of women with bare breasts and painted nipples telling women with exposed legs that they were immodest. Funny!
Guess I missed that in advanced A&P. Does a man's nipples go to his reproductive gland also?
I didn't know that “modesty” entailed telling others that their actions offend you, but rather in not being personally immodest.
Well, there's your tidbit on knowledge for today.
“I dont like it when Rainbow Push extorts. I dont like it when anyone does”
That makes you apart from a myriad of FReepers whose first action upon finding something objectionable about a business is to boycott.
So even if this woman is a DD and bursting with on-time production, it’s OK to see the bottom of the globe, all pasty from no sunlight and covered with blue veins?

See, the idea is not to stare. That makes it about you and not about the public breastfeeder.
Your keen eye and attention to detail would be better served elsewhere than staring at the boobs of women breastfeeding in public.
No telling what Michelle's stylists would do with that situation. Close your eyes, visualize and laugh!!!
Does your “modesty” oblige you to tell the woman who didn't actually show anything that she is being immodest?
That isn't the question. However, I tend to avoid businesses that would openly cater to such self absorbed women.
Oh, I see. You want to invoke God for things you agree with, but claim religious oppression for things you do not agree with. God intended for sexual intercourse to happen, too; but not in public, and not with just anybody. His word was very specific about marriage and modesty.
From what I have seen and read there is no indication that this woman was not using a cover...
Then you have not been reading this thread. Posts were very clear that she was a no-cover militant who refused to cover. Proof that attention to the sensibilities of others is an issue for you.
Sex and sex-related zones belong within the home and marriage. Most people don't want to see a stranger's nips in what should be a safe zone in the middle of a busy day. People want to bring curious children or their business associates into a coffee bar without any private "reproductive" issues on display and insisted upon by a small minority of womyn.
Lack of consideration for the costs of doing business when militant liberal feminist social reformers start to sue a small private enterprise is not a conservative value.
Albion Wilde writes - “So even if this woman is a DD and bursting with on-time production, it’s OK to see the bottom of the globe, all pasty from no sunlight and covered with blue veins? No thanks.”
Wow. Why don’t you tell us how you really feel about them revoltin’ females? Lol.
“Lack of consideration for the costs of doing business when militant liberal feminist social reformers start to sue a small private enterprise is not a conservative value. “
No one is being sued in this situation.
