The anti-business agenda of Obama and the Democrats is a major factor. The only way a job is created is for someone to risk their money to start or expand a business. Anyone considering that must look at current and future economics. That look shows an increasing level of financial risk and headaches as Obama keeps pushing for higher taxes, higher energy costs, more regulation and more forced unionism.
Obama Care has a new accounting nightmare, that requires a 1099 for all financial business transactions over $600... Obama is still pushing for the card check bill, which eliminates the secret ballot in union elections. Forced unionism kills new job formation and even destroys existing jobs.

It’s going to be decades before any company sets up a factory in this country. Or anyone starts a business with the confidence that it won’t be literally confiscated or strangled by red tape.
Obama is doing just what he planned with the economy. His goals are in sight. Everyone will either be employed by the government; dependent on the government or a lamp shade.
I've just about had enough of it.

Cheater = Feds.
Thief = Congress.
Con artist = Piss-Stream Media.

I have some capital... but I'm holding 'em, so to speak, and sticking with investing via the public markets. In my last business, the red tape was increasingly bad over the last dozen years; it's worse now. I'm not eager to subject myself and my capital to that, absent some extraordinary opportunity.
“Its going to be decades before any company sets up a factory in this country.”
Oh, I disagree. We’ll see factories again. But they won’t be like the ones we’re used to. It’ll be more on the Sicilian model where they operate out of sight, off the books, and don’t officially exist.
Let’s call this what it is: the O-pression. And it’s not ending anytime soon. I’d say we’re in this for another decade.
I have residential snow plowing customers that paid me more than $600 this winter.
I wonder if they will all send me 1099’s.
“I wonder if they will all send me 1099s.”
LOL!
I forgot about the 1099’s. Yet another move that is going to push businesses into the shadow economy.
