This idiotic exercise has just shut down all US ROL efforts for the foreseeable future here in Kabul. The advisors will still get paid their salaries...which are your tax dollars.

Maybe this church would like to foot the bill for our salary and the cost of our security during the down time that they are causing?

and don't get me started on how this is straining relationships we have worked very hard to build with the local police/prosecutors/etc...

Did Petraeus condemn the flotilla?

Did Petraeus condemn the murders of the innocent Israeli’s last week?

Hey Petraeus , remember Tripoli?

What Church, in the late 1800/early 1900s, burned the Qur'an in order to start this "Muslim rage"? Quit being a slave to Political Correctness. Christendom is a perpetual target by Islamics. Muslims only fear intimidation and brute force which you should be applying. Instead, we try to reason and coddled Islamics only to be STABBED in the back. History is being totally ignored which will be are doom unless we act appropriately.

Sounds like we are doing a bang-up job with befriending the enemy and teaching them to love us. By all means, no one ever do anything to upset the Muslims, because it might make them act like Muslims, and that is dangerous.

Did Petraeus complain about all those Egyptian protesters dancing on the American flag to show their displeasure with this Koran burning?

Dear General Petraeus: How many Afghans have TVs, radios, and newspapers? So the news reports of the Koran burnings gets to what, 5% of the population? Out of the 5%, how many are Taliban? Out of those Taliban, how many have TVs, radios, and newspapers? The Taliban want to kill our troops regardless of whether anyone burns a Koran.

Imho General, just kill the Taliban and the problem is solved. The church here utilizes their First amendment rights, and less of the Afghan population is terrorized and killed. Win win situation, don't you think?

I too condemn the burning of Korans.

It’s a waste of perfectly good toilet paper.

Moslems appear to get pretty irrational when they are pissed.

If burning the Quran in Florida pisses them off and makes them irrational, perhaps that will make killing their asses even easier.

There ya go Petraeus.

The only good Islamist is a dead one. Get used to it. And remember, they will kill you in a heartbeat given the chance. It is the ultimate prize for them.

Perhaps if we also allow the Muzzies to build a Muslim war memorial, er, mosque at Ground Zero, the Taliban won't get mad at us and try and kill our soldiers?

Methinks the good General is worrying a bit too much about enemy "feelings" and a bit too little about the center piece of the enemy's ideology and motivation?

Or maybe his boss told him he'd better ride to the rescue of the White House's favorite religion, or else?

Several years ago, some Palestinians took over a Christian church in Bethlehem. While they occupied the church, the muslims trashed the place and used pages of the Bible for toilet paper.

Did General Petraeus speak out then? Do I hear the sound of crickets?

It is a self righteous spiritual stunt in the same vein as snake handling and demonstrates the doctrinal admirability of the Westboro Baptist Church.

What if you were stranded in snowy mountains and Qurans were the only things you had to burn to keep warm?

“It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort,” Gen. Petraeus said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems. Not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community.”

Why is Petraeus wanting not to ‘offend’ our enemy?

Besides, it’s just some books. If the Taliban or Islamic ‘community’ were to burn a bunch of Bibles, we could just laugh at their symbolic attempt. After all, we can print more of them.

BUT, they burn Christian churches, and the people and Bibles in them. Shouldn’t we be the ones offended?

If Americans buy houses for Muslims, open doors of opportunity, put calls to prayer on city speakers, give hiring preference to them, they use that against us. If we given them the Koran printed on toilet paper, or burn the book, they use it against us. The problem is, we as a country are not trying to destroy Islam, which is what is called for. We should be undermining any and everything about their faith on a minute by minute basis. We should be bombing mosques, arresting those praying in public and just in general driving them underground. Then again, if I were CIC on 9-12, Mecca and Medina would have been smoking holes.
