With the economic recovery sputtering and the midterm elections approaching, President Obama is considering additional tax credits and tax breaks, additional spending on clean energy and infrastructure in other words, additional stimulus. But don't call it stimulus! In a recent Politico story about Obama's plans for "emergency fixes to stimulate the economy," the White House press office refused to comment on the scope "other than to say it won't be a 'second stimulus.'"
It's a strange situation. The White House believes the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 helped avoid a depression and end a recession, saving or creating about 3 million jobs so far. And most nonpartisan economists basically agree: the $787 billion package of tax cuts, state aid and spending projects helped stimulate economic activity in the short term, which is the whole point of fiscal stimulus. As I wrote in the magazine last week, the Recovery Act is also funding a range of innovative education, health care, transportation and energy policies that will transform the country in the long term.

"A Mind Strong Back Is A Terrible Thing To Waste"
"Tax cuts" - another stealth/phony liberal/"progressive" scheme. "Tax breaks" - for all I know, probably another term these snakes use that doesn't really amount to tax cuts.
Amended comment: GOP, I hope you're listening. After 2010, you better
- CUT TAXES...BY A LOT, and
- REPEAL CommieCare
Nice to get a polite and humble response, Thank you. My call is 9% flat tax rate for all, everyone gets a tax cut, and the whining will be progressive bull. Outlaw double digit taxation. Until then, Congress should impose on themselves, their highest rate on any American entity, no deduction.
Much more to be done, but a 9% or 10% flat tax (I prefer sales tax to income tax (including abolishing the IRS)) would, I believe, launch an even greater era of prosperity than that launched by Reagan.
I’m with you on the sales tax, though I think when Republicans calling it the “Fair Tax” it was a mistake, for that makes it too easy Democrats to demonize. They should have stuck with calling it what it is, a sales tax. Leave the double talk to Democrats.
Are elephants as dumb as the GOP?
Government creates poverty.
Government never creates wealth.
Free-market capitalism creates wealth.
No small business is going to be able to afford the bonding capacity necessary to do the kind of major work Obama is talking about.
And if a small business does bid on a job and by some miracle gets it you can be assured the UNIONS are going to be on his A** from the get-go like the Tuck pointer mason in St. Louis who call on Rush's show a couple of weeks ago!
HOW STUPID DOES OBAMA THINK WE ARE???????????????? ALL THOSE FOLKS IN MILWAUKEE WERE SHIPPED IN BY THE UNIONS!
