Perspective, Boys, Perspective (Delaware: Castle v O'Donnell)
FaceBook ^ | 9/3/2010 | Mark Levin

Jim Geraghty over at National Review Online is now clearly in the Mike Castle camp, or at least carrying lots of water for him. http://www.nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/245596/whos-backstabbing-who-delaware

As I recall, National Review endorsed John McCain over J.D. Hayworth. I don't recall any concerns mentioned about his Keating Five role or his widely reported temper tantrums. No, J.D., we were told, had all kinds of flaws. Hell, he even did an infomerical promoting federal grants, which would not have to be paid back. These, they concluded, were fatal flaws. All of McCain's disastrous positions and tactics over the years -- from his opposition to the Bush tax cuts, promotion of cap-and-trade, support of amnesty, draconian efforts to limit free political speech, etc., etc., were to be forgiven, or in the big scheme of things, tolerated. I believe we will pay a heavy price for McCain's return.

Now, here comes Christine O'Donnell, another imperfect human-being and candidate. She's had financial difficulties. That's not unique, is it? Of course, Castle has been on the public dole for decades. We, the people, pay his rent, so he hasn't had to deal with the ups and downs of private sector life. However, Geraghty all but finds O'Donnell guilty of perjury given her radio interview and financial disclosure report. I guess that means Joe Biden is headed to prison for campaign violations since campaign reports are also filed under penalty of perjury.

I usually like Geraghty's work. He's a smart, analytical young man. But perhaps he's more Republican than conservative. That's ok, mind you. But it is what it is. I am hopeful he will spend a little more time digging further into Castle's financial and voting records before the primary is over, but time is running out. And we have a Constitution to reestablish. Perspective, boys, perspective.

Mark Levin is 'all-in' in Delaware for Christine O'Donnell. He comments on Jim Geraghty's article Who's Backstabbing Who at National Review (link above). Geraghty focuses solely on O'Donnell's less than stellar interview with Weekly Standard (remind you of any other recent female GOP candidates?) and only glosses over Mike Castle's ACU of 52.49. Geraghty also quotes from an entertaining article on this race by Erik Erickson at Red State regarding his passion of not having Mike Castle in the Senate.

This race is heating up but unfortunately Delaware is not exactly Alaska. Go Christine O'Donnell.

It seems all long-time NRers end up with a capital E for ‘Establishment’ tattoo on their brains. I was sorry to see his petty, transparent and one-sided hit pieces.

Seldom do I bother reading them anymore. Or any other “establishment” GOP publication. The conservative analysis here at FRee Republic is light-years ahead of the beltway crowd.

Good morning! I have a report from the ground here: This is a small state with no history of political activism or even heated campaigns. Last night, on a holiday weekend, there were over fifty O'Donnell supporters chanting in front of GOP headquarters. They were all registered Delaware Republicans. This is a closed primary and only motivated voters will show up at the polls on 9/14.

The bare knuckle, shock & awe tactics employed by the NRSC, the DE GOP and Mike Castle's many corporate backers, are backfiring big time. People who only two weeks ago might only have thought him a RINO, now see him as an evil RINO bastard who is in the pocket of his multinational backers. His career is over! If not on 9/14, then certainly on 11/2. That is a good thing.

Dear National Rinons on line,

Sit down and shut up. You utter morons.

You cannot hold O'Donnell up as a "great candidate" when she is running against Biden in 2008 and then go all in for trash talk against her now.

Castle is a Democrat in everything but name. Even if Castle were to win, he will vote more with Harry Reid then he will with Jim Demint. This is one race it would be better to lose then to spend all our time electing Castle only to have him pull a Jeffords on us in Jan 2011. Your choice here are O'Donnell or a Progressive, there is no other option.

But perhaps he's more Republican than conservative.

That's the problem right there. IMO.

Please go vote for Christine O'Donnell.
Unlike me and my cronies, she is obviously ‘not guilty’.

Let's not forget the "We are simply stupid" tactics of the GOP. Here in the CT-2 we had a good Tea Party candidate who runs her own business and the GOP put up a former newscaster who introduces herself as "Hi, I'm Janet Peckinpaugh. I used to be a new anchor" to prospective voters. I kid you not.

I have nothing to do with the national GOP. We actually had a chance to put a slimy union backed Congresscritter out but they wanted "name recognition". MORONS!

Should we pray for a deluge of rain in Delaware on Sept. 14 to keep the not-too-fired-up GOP RINO lovers away from the polls? We know that O’Donnell supporters would crawl over broken glass to cast their vote.

“Seldom do I bother reading them anymore.

I haven’t read National Review in years. I followed it for years, then started seeing the establishment, party-boy mentality taking over.

Go, O’Donnell! Send Castle to the dungeon.

National Review ceased to be a reliably conservative publication over 20 years ago. I used to read the Corner occasionally until 2008 when it became a transparent pipe organ for Mitt Romney.

The Great One gets it right (again). Geraghty and Erickson are all about making a living and “going with the flow” (as Palin says). The Conservative cause is always subject to subordination for people such as these when it conflicts with their personal agenda.

The good news is that Christine O’Donnell is very likely to beat Castle and she is also quite likely to defeat Coons. This is going to screw up the arrangements of Plugs Biden who had foreseen Castle as a seat warmer for Beau Biden, a Republican whose vote he could count on (and who, according to reports from Delaware) has committed to switching parties after the election. Beau will have to face an incumbent in 2014 instead of a lame duck.

BTW, I have a theory that the ferocity of the attacks on COD is generated not so much by Castle himself as by his Democrat puppet masters who want to keep the seat in the Biden family. The “politics of personal destruction” character of the attacks appears to have a Democrat, Chicago-style flavor, and is uncharacteristically harsh for a Yankee elitist such as Castle.

Let me pick your brain a little bit more, please. Has the rank and file in Delaware woke to to what's going on in this particular race? I mean, we political junkies have been fired up for months over this race, but what about the average Republican working man or stay-at-home mom? Are they informed and fired up? Is there a real chance that Castle can go down like Murkowski did in AK?

Let’s hope his career is over 9/14.
We drove thru on the way to OC and saw many more O’Donnell signs than Castle.
Money is coming her way. Let’s get her in!

Maybe we should establish a House of Lords so the elite’s children can inherit their seats in the Senate instead of going through all this trouble. Voting is so messy and you never really know what can happen.

A Facebook analysis of the Current state of the race in Delaware, a comparison with the Alaska trends, including analysis and projections:

As of September 6, 2010 at 8:50 a.m. EDT :

Christine O’Donnell: 6170

Mike Castle: 2250

Castle is stuck in neutral...only 21 fan additions in the four days I have been tracking it...2250 total.

In the same four days, COD has added 538. If COD maintains this pace she will have more than 7500 fans by election day.

By election day, if memory serves, Joe Miller had about 3900 fans. And Alaska is not that much smaller than Delaware.

Lisa Murkowski, who lost, had over 2300 fans, more than Castle does now.

My Point: The gap between Miller and Murkowski in Facebook fans was never as large as the one that now separates Christine O’Donnell and Mike Castle.

By election day, if present trends continue (and they show no sign of abating), Christine O’Donnell will have more than THREE TIME AS MANY FACEBOOK FANS AS MIKE CASTLE. (I understand that a victory in the Delaware GOP primary can be secured with as few as 19,000 votes.)

At no point before election day in Alaska did Joe Miller have even TWICE as many facebook fans as Lisa Murkowski. It ended up about 3950 for Miller and 2350 for Murkowski, a wide margin but nowhere near the blowout we are seeing right now in Delaware. I attribute this principally to the fact that Murkowski was nowhere near the leftist that Mike Castle is. And, as the saying goes, in elections issues matter, and this is especially true in primary elections. The issues calculus breaks heavily in O’Donnell’s favor, which is the principal reason for the late smear campaign.

Based upon the Facebook numbers and the current trend and on the ineffectiveness of Castle’s “smear/diversion” campaign (so named because the objective of the smear is principally to divert attention from his record), I am prepared to state that Christine O’Donnell will be the GOP nominee for Senate in Delaware. The margin will be wider than it was in Alaska two weeks ago.

The lesson to all future GOP primary candidates is that Democrat smear tactics (the politics of personal destruction spawned by Marx and perfected by Alinsky) are wholly ineffective in a GOP primary, if their principal aim is to camouflage liberal positions or divert attention from them. The Primary voters will ferret out the truth, and the candidate who is the purveyor of the slime will find his last state worse than his first.

You know, we laugh at that, but some of these RINO Eastern Establishment types actually believe that. Their contempt for the “small people” is only thinly veiled.

I am so glad to hear that, I was hoping so. The GOP need not get fat and sassy, they can be taken out too.
