The month of September 2005 was a very busy month for President Bush after Katrina came on land at the Gulf coast and damaged the area. We see President Bush and First Lady Laura visiting New Orleans and other affected areas in Louisiana and Mississippi to comfort the victims of the hurricane and bring aid
The country lost Chief Justice William Renquist who passed away on September 3, 2005
President Bush nominated Judge Roberts to become the next Chief Supreme Court Justice. On September 29th Justice Roberts was sworn in as the 20th? Supreme Court Chief Justice.
President Bush remembered 9/11 heroes at a Medal of Valor ceremony. He also met with several foreign leaders and addressed the Useless Nations
For the quote of the month I have chosen President Bushs Remarks which he gave at the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service on September 16, 2005
Thanks, Deb .. for the articles and the
Facebook interview .. all great!
Here’s an attendee’s impression of the
Saddleback Forum appearance:

And another report from Saddleback

Great finds, STARWISE! Thank you!
The above is from one of the two eyewitness accounts you linked, Star. So true, but nevertheless it amazes me just how many people -- including way too many on the Right -- simply do not recognize greatness of character when they see it. From several perspectives, George W. Bush is, without any doubt, a truly great man.
The fact that some people mistake his straightforward, plain-spoken west Texas ways for lack of intelligence says more about them than about our 43rd President.
I think the huge success of his book and appearances speaks to the fact that some people do get it, thank heavens.
And thanks for those great links, STARWISE and DrDeb!
That Saddleback appearance must have been wonderful based on the photos (thanks, dmd25!) and the reports.
People are finally catching on, and it's SO sweet to watch it all unfold!
Love your post, Wolfstar.
President Bush wrote an op ed in the Washington Post today:
America's global fight against AIDS
"During a presidency often forced to focus on issues of national security, the fight against global disease was sometimes viewed as an anomaly or exception. It wasn't and isn't. America has a direct stake in the progress and hope of other nations....
...I am happily out of the political business. But I can offer some friendly advice to members of Congress, new and old. A thousand pressing issues come with each day. But there are only a few that you will want to talk about in retirement with your children. The continuing fight against global AIDS is something for which America will be remembered. And you will never regret the part you take."
Yay! Thanks for posting! :)
President Bush is amazing!!!!!! Charming, intelligent, funny, serious, smart, well-spoken--all the things we love about him. One thing nice about this interview is that time is not an issue--he is very relaxed and has time to tell stories. It is wonderful!!
Thanks so much, LuvyaDubya, for posting this once it became available.
ohioWfan and DrDeb--it is funny to see how quick that moment was that was captured in that picture we liked (him telling people to sit down). Glad some photographer was quick with the shutter!
THANK YOU, so much, for the link to the Saddleback Forum with our wonderful President Bush! I had marked my calendar but, once again, time escaped me!
Luvya: THANK YOU for posting the ‘Saddleback’ link — the video is a definite MUST VIEW!!
dmd25: Great review — I agree with every word!

AN UNLIKELY PAIR: PERTUSET, BUSH CONTINUE FRIENDSHIP
key quote:
We need to stop that president stuff were his exact words, Pertuset said. He said, were friends. I want you to make sure you understand youre my friend, and I hope Im your friend. This president stuff needs to stop.
If nothing else, the friendship between Pertuset and Bush demonstrates that behind all the glamor people are just people.
Even if one of those people also happened to be the leader of the free world.”

DECISION POINTS remains NUMBER ONE on amazon.com and
the NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER list (for nonfiction).
Haven’t had a chance to check in for a few days. Thanks for all the links.
It was nice to see the successor of President Bush urge congress to extend the Bush tax cuts. I thought he was going to gag on the words. LOL
. . . irony/schadenfreude is just so much fun isn’t it!!
That’s OUR president! He’s a friend before anything else!
So cool that the book is selling like gangbusters. Seems like the last laugh is on all his haters, lol. GWB is still extremely well liked by large numbers of the American people.
