WASHINGTON The mother of murdered intern Chandra Levy is asking a judge's permission to attend the trial of the accused killer.
In a new legal filing, Modesto resident Susan Levy states she wants the opportunity to be in the courtroom "for the entire trial," set to start Oct. 4. She requires permission to watch because she could also be called to testify.
"I'm a mother," Susan Levy explained in a telephone interview Friday. "As hard as it's going to be, it's something a mother has to do."

Will he be called as a witness? Why are they trying to keep Chandra's mother out of the courtroom.
“Condidit” ping.
My heart goes out to her. May God be with her every step of the way and comfort her broken heart.
“I don’t know about the rest of you but I still have a sinking feeling that Gary “Condidit” Condit knows something about Chandra Levy’s murder. Why did he lie?”
He lied because he’s a politician and didn’t want his affair coming out.
One thing is responsible for this tragedy...Condit and political hacks like McCain who have refused to secure the border!
from the article: Investigators eventually resurrected the cold case and prosecutors have charged illegal Salvadoran immigrant Ingmar Guandique with attempted sexual assault and first-degree murder.
Who Killed Chandra Levy (An Illegal Alien)

[snip]The day Chandra disappeared, May 1, 2001, Ingmar A. Guandique, a 19-year-old illegal Salvadoran immigrant, did not show up for his construction job. Around that time, he went to stay with his former landlady, Sheila Phillips Cruz, the manager of an apartment building on Somerset Place NW. Cruz noticed that Guandique looked like he had been in a bad fight, his face battered and bruised. He had a fat lip, a bloody blemish in his eye and scratches around his throat.

If she wants to be there, she should have the right to be there.
This trial is going to be excruciating on her. Will she be able to handle the details?
I remember an interview with Larry King, before the arrest of the suspect, where she started to play some sort of hand held Indian drum as a way of expressing her anguish over her daughter’s murder. That poor women.
“I still have a sinking feeling that Gary “Condidit” Condit knows something about Chandra Levy’s murder”
I too. I believe without a doubt he was behind it.
I remember the Condidit business here very well. And I’m not at all sure that I trust the DC Police or the Park Police to arrest the right guy, after seeing so many botched cases—sometimes apparently deliberately botched. This happened not long after that Intern murder, which clinton almost certainly ordered because he misunderstood Drudge’s first news release about an affair with an intern beginning with the letter “M.”
Condit certainly deserved to be driven from office, whether or not he had any connection with the murder.
On another note, if this illegal is actually guilty, then I wonder if it’s a good idea for Mrs. Levy to attend the trial. Because even if the judge allows it, it opens the door for endless appeals and delays on the part of the defense lawyers.
I’m a little confused. It is a public trial so anyone can attend. Why does Mrs. Levy have to ask the judge for permission to attend a public trial? I have never heard of a judge refusing a family member to attend a trial just because they were a family memeber.
Absolutely she should be in that room. And she should not have to petition to do so — she is a victim, she is the mother. Victims should always have the right to confront the perps. If I were her — as a mother — I would take it to the Supremes if I needed to.

Quoting article: “She requires permission to watch because she could also be called to testify. “
Probably not. Levy was murdered by an illegal alien sociopath. That's the part of the story that is buried by the press. The fact of the matter is that if America's borders were secure, Chandra Levy would be alive today - and she's not alone. Too many Americans are murdered in this country each year by people who should not be in the country in the first place.
That's the take-away from the Chandra Levy murder.
Generally speaking, potential witnesses cannot be in attendance of trials in which they may be called without prior leave of the court.
What happened to the father? I haven’t heard anything about him in years. I believe he was a doctor?
They do, prior to sentencing. Every jurisdiction that I'm familiar allows for the entry of a victim impact statement prior to sentencing. Some jurisdictions allow that this statement be read aloud, in court and by the victim themselves, or by their family if the victim is deceased.
However, most jurisdictions, including federal statutory and case law, limits the participation of potential witnesses to include them being in the audience for any portion of the case that does not involve their direct testimony.
I know that's not the way it goes in TV and the movies, but that's done in furtherance of artistic and dramatic license, not factual accuracy.
I believe the suspect is also a suspect for the murder of another girl that disappeared in the park. There were similarities in both deaths. Condit isn't that good.
Yes, I agree entirely. I was actually quoting the poster I was responding to with that particular sentence. I don't think Condit had anything to do with her (Levy's) death.
Of course, that doesn't make him any less of a creep than he clearly is.
Thank you very much.
