Hudson Valley Green Festival draws hundreds

STAATSBURG, N.Y. -- Many were lured by the music, but most of the folks in Mills-Norrie State Park on Saturday had one thing in common.

"My daughter knows all about recycling because of Sesame Street" said Lara Vitello.

"Ride my bike to work everyday" said Don Kent of Red Hook.

"Sustainable food, sustainable energy and really preserving the Hudson River and this whole area" said John Kroner, owner of Terrapin Restaurant.

Kroner says he co-organized the Hudson Valley Green Festival with the same theme behind his Rhinebeck restaurant.

"We don't want the entire world to become a cesspool because we don't care, we're not conscious enough to at least think about what we do" said Kroner

The festival is not just a great way to close out the summer but organizers hope to encourage everyone here to find new ways to live sustainably.

Just another toughy-feely fair put on by people who think their savin gthe planet. Staatsburgh is a few miles upriver from where Chelsea Clinton recently got married. The one thing most notable about this, in the accompanying video, it seems the only person "of color" at this event was Lori Chung, the reporter. Other than programs on Nat. Geographic or Animal Planet showing effeorts to save elephants or any endangered species du jure in Kenya, congo, etc. how often do Black people get involved in any eco-event? When was the last time a "Brotha" saved a whale? Ever hear of a "Sista" express concern about "man made" global warming? I've seen more diversity at a NASCAR race. And to think these eco-weenies are among those who have the unmitigated chutzpah to call the Tea Party Movement racist?

Statement: "My daughter knows all about recycling because of Sesame Street" said Lara Vitello."

Response: Then there are some who wonder why the left is firmly in charge.

I wonder how much trash was left behind at the festival.

Liberal reporters wanted to report how much trash was left behind after the Glenn Beck rally in Washington, but they couldn’t, because that crowd was so respectful of each other and their surroundings that there was very little clean-up needed afterward.

Whereas there was tons of trash to clean up after Obama’s inauguration in Washington.

It seems that liberals want to save a planet but don’t do some of the little things like cleaning up after themselves. Whereas conservatives aren’t on board with all this global warming talk, but do take care to clean up after themselves.

In the early 70’s all I learned from that show was to be nice to other people. It still had some leftists themes. I would watch it while mom was cooking supper.

This is the festival's first year, but with conserving the environment as its cause, it doesn't look like it will be the last.

Lemmings...

Pathetic, emotion-driven, reason-challenged lemmings...

You might be a liberal if you demand everyone else drive Priuses while you own a jet.

Just another touchy-feely assembly of fools that want nothing more than to feel good about dictating to YOU & ME how we should live, according to their touch-feely standards. Perhaps some of them put their carbon-credits where their mouth is, but I’ll wager easily that most of them are foul, energy-wasting hippie-crits.

Hudson Valley Green Festival draws hundreds

Are you sure it didn't draw 87,000? Maybe we need to call in the crowd experts who assessed Beck's rally?

Festivals create Trash and harm the planet.....

These people should sit quietly as to consume the least amount of calories as possible, create no trash and breath as shallow as possible to save the planet from deadly CO2.

‘Now go lie down’...../s

"Use just one square of toilet paper per sitting," said lousy singer Sheryl Crow. "Gimme five?"

A bunch of “Useful Idiots” being produced. I have a question, and I used to work for NYS Parks and am familiar with Mills Norry State Park; what the hell is NYS Parks using tax payer dollars to push radical enviromentalism. I used to ask my boss that but he would never answer me. Wake up NYers you tax dollars is being wasted on leftist propaganda.

This is the same neighborhood, if not the exact same town, where Chelsea Clinton had her mega wedding with many guests flying in by private jet and endless limos ferrying people to and fro for the weekend festivities and television sound trucks were everywhere.

Odd, from all the reporting I saw or read for that Clinton event, I don't recall any greenie protests. I'd say these aging hippie wackos missed their logical protest targets by about a month. Maybe they're just trying to get rid of their unsold inventories of tie-dyed tee shirts, peace sign medallions, and drug paraphernalia.

What foolishness we need the UN to tell us how to live in a sustainable fashion. How did the world ever manage to make it all these millenia until now?

Cool!

That means more heating oil, gasoline, T-bone steaks and open roads for the rest of us to share.

"These people should sit quietly as to consume the least amount of calories as possible, create no trash and breath as shallow as possible to save the planet from deadly CO2."

If they really, really, really cared they would drown themselves in the ocean so they could recycle their precious bodily fluids, totally stop their use of petroleum products and eliminate any possibilty of contributing to global warming, all in one fell swoop.

General Jack Ripper

"I can no longer sit back and allow Communist infiltration, Communist indoctrination, Communist subversion and the international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids."
