Plouffe: Limbaugh, Beck and Palin are a problem for GOP

President Barack Obama's political adviser, David Plouffe, on Sunday called Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin the leaders of the Republican party — and also a "problem" for the GOP in this fall's elections and beyond.

Plouffe emphasized the "intolerance" and "extremism" of the tea party and right wing of Republican party as both a short-term and long-term electoral problem for the moderate GOP, citing their attacks even on conservative senators such as Tom Coburn of Oklahoma as an example of how narrowly they have tailored their messaging and base.

"Right now — and this is a problem for them — I do think Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, they are the leaders of the party," Plouffe said on "NBC's "Meet the Press." "There is an intolerance in that party and an extremism, that I think is where the real energy is, and so I think you'll see in '11 and '12 with that presidential primary, those are going to be the people who come out to vote."

Tea party-backed candidates — from Sharron Angle in Nevada, Rand Paul in Kentucky and, most recently, Joe Miller in Alaska — have enjoyed high levels of succes in primary battles, but Plouffe and the Democrats are banking on the hope that these candidates will alienate Independents and more moderate Republicans.

With Limbaugh, Beck and Palin emerging as the leaders of the GOP, and edging out more mainstream Republicans, Plouffe said Democrats could make gains in specific races across the country.

"That's going to be a problem [for them]," Plouffe said.

The problem is going to be:

How will the GOP do in actually governing?

Anybody named Plouffe has far greater problems than worrying about the opposition.

What a Plouffter.

The only thing saving the GOP right now is the fact that they are not the Democrat Party. They can also thank their lucky stars that people like Limbaugh, Beck, and Palin are around to remind people that there are alternatives to tyranny.

Listening to Plouffe on what is good for Republicans is like listening to Goebbels on what Britain should do against Germany in WWII.

LOL indeed. The tolerance of the Democrats is astounding. And they make no decisions based on race, nor do they make decisions favoring one race over another.

They are setting up “explanations” in advance for how they won (using voter fraud) despite all the polls showing them going to lose.

They are the leaders of what the Republican Party SHOULD BE, SHOULD STAND FOR.

The tea party movement is an extension of those principles, values and beliefs.

Does this show just how wrong he (the whole dumbocrat party) can get?

Who does he listen to? Is there anyone inside the Georgetown inner elite circle who has a clue? WHo knows what’s going on and how badly they (the inside Georgetown elite) have screwed things up?

I think he was SAYING it is really a problem
for democrats.

It always amazes me how much democrats care about
moderate republicans, almost like they were related.
