I hope you are right. The Republicans will need to take the lead. In NY State, the current NY Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo, has come out in favor of the GZ mosque and he is heavily favored to be elected Governor. The US State Department is heavily involved with the Imam for the mosque, paying for international tours for him and his wife and buying up $1,000’s of dollars worth of his books.
The publicity surrounding this mosque may become so unsavory that Obama & Co., plus Cuomo, are forced to throw this Imam under the bus and Bloomberg along with him, but that will take a lot of doing.
Perhaps others are hesitant to say this, but if they try to build the mosque at the site near Ground Zero, there will be civil unrest like never seen. It will come from every side, and the proponents can scream freedom of religion all they want but the problem will never go away until they choose another site.
Yes. I agree that will happen. And maybe, even in NY State, enough pressure will accumulate to force Cuomo to backtrack (because Cuomo is a spineless opportunist); and then the pressure will keep building as more details keep coming out until something is eventually done to settle Bloomberg’s hash.
