President Obama on Friday said he has no regrets about describing the last three months as the "Recovery Summer."
"I don't regret the notion that we are moving forward because of the steps that we have taken," Obama said in response to a question after he offered comments on the latest unemployment figures.
The administration described the summer of 2010 as "recovery summer" because a large amount of the 2009 stimulus package was being spent over the summer. But job growth slowed dramatically over the summer amid concerns the economy was moving into a double-dip recession, and Republicans have made fun of the moniker.
The president's remarks came after the Labor Department released jobs data showing unemployment rising from 9.5 to 9.6 percent. The private sector created 67,000 jobs, but overall the economy lost 54,000 jobs.
Those numbers were better than expected, and are easing concerns about a double-dip recession. Still, Republicans argued Friday they fall short of a real recovery.
The administration has held firm that its policies are slowly but surely nursing the economy back to health.
"We are confident we are moving in the right direction but we want to make sure this economy" is getting even stronger, Obama said on Friday.
Obama said he would be offering a new package of ideas on the economy next week.
Was one of his ideas to offer free Ice Cream to purchasers of a new GM vehicle, “because I can’t think of a single person who doesn’t like ice cream.”

Thank you Nathan....I can understand what you have stated and agree with most of it...but I do not underestimate the political climate we’re in... the most bizarre and underhanded things have been said and done I would have never believed could happen...especially how open and in your face they are.
My fears are the Republicans will fold when they have the opportunity to fight and push against the waves...why they don’t have more a backbone when important they do often mystifies me....rather like when McCain ran and kept all his ammunition in his pocket, when he could have taken Bo to the mat. Instead he handed Bo the election!

If this was the Summer of Recovery, why do we need another stimulus event? And what happened to all the money from the first stimulus which supposedly hasn’t all been spent yet?
Obama in last weeks address stood with his so-called economics team and professed to have broken the back of the recession. Many contend that the only thing Obama and his academic suits have accomplished is to have broken the backs of Americans and America.

He is either plans to soon ditch out of here because the world is calling him or he plans to throw lots of money on the economy as a temp fix in time for his next election.
