POTUS will appear at a Sept. 16 fundraiser in Stamford for Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal.

In recent weeks, Blumenthal has taken pains to emphasize his independence from the President and his policies. But on Friday, he said he was eager to host Obama.

"I look forward to welcoming the President of the United States to Connecticut,'' Blumenthal said in a statement released by his campaign. "It is an honor to have his support and his assistance. His visit will make a difference for us, energizing our supporters and helping us raise the resources we need against my opponent who is spending an unprecedented $50 million on her campaign."

It was just 11 months ago, in October 2009, that Obama came to Connecticut to campaign for Chris Dodd. What a difference a year has made.

His lead is cratering. He will lose and we’ll all get to look back at the Obama effect once again.

Yes—it’s the kiss of Obama! Linda McMahon must be dancing in her campaign headquarters.

Neil Cavoto showed Blumenthal to be a lightweight and made mincemeat of him during an interview.

The man lacks the stature to be senator. I can’t believe he is the candidate

I’m not thrilled with Linda McMahon, but still hope that she wins.

So did Glenn Beck yet here we are. Blumenthal will probably win in CT because he has the backing of all the unions.

I love this. I really do. This is going to prove how popular he is. He was the most popular person during the election with 10’s of thousands filling halls and stadiums to hear him speak. This is a great test to see if his popularity has continued. I want an accurate count of how many people show up for this event. If millions show, he is still popular. If 100 people are there, he is done....cooked....stuffed. whatever word you want to use.

Really next year would be the year to attend. Next year is the 10th anniversary. That is the year he definitely should go. I don’t believe he needs to go every year. President Bush did because it happened on his watch. We don’t go to Pearl Harbor every year do we? No. On big anniversaries, I agree that he should go and every President that follows.

While I might agree with that logic, I suspect he stays away for political reasons. Seems everything he does is calculated.
