Who’s Backstabbing Who In Delaware?
NRO Campaign Spot ^ | 9/3/2010 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 09/03/2010 8:07:34 AM PDT by Crichton

A couple of Christine O’Donnell fans didn’t like yesterday’s post on the radio interview.

My mistake, fellas. You’re right. It was a terrific interview. A candidate who doesn’t like the questions she’s being asked should always tell the host that there are rumors he’s taking bribes from the other campaign. When she says she won two out of three counties, no one should acknowledge that she lost both, one by 14 percentage points. Conservatism is best served when we all close our eyes and pretend we don’t see a false statement by a candidate we prefer!

Now, I’m not going to tout Mike Castle as anything other than what he is. He has a lifetime ACU rating of 52.49. That’s pretty darn “meh” for conservatives. But the moderation of the other guy isn’t sufficient reason to give a thumbs up to a candidate who makes blatantly, easily-to-verify false statements on the trail, nor to countenance her attacks on those who have the audacity to bring her the bad news.

According to Christine O'Donnell, anyone who says anything factual about her is on the payroll of the NRC/NRSC.

So I guess that includes RedState, National Review, and conservative talk radio. Hey, where's my payment??

The National Review has suffered in its state of mind since Buckley left it.

The problem with Congress is the people running it. Unless they can get flushed out of office - PARTICULARLY LIBERAL RINOs like Castle - the better off the country will be.

I suggest the National Review retune its moral compass.

Democrats make blatantly false statement on the trail all the time. Too bad nobody tracks them down with the ferocity that we seem to track down conservatives.

An election is about a choice. Sometimes, that choice is not a great one. What matters to me, how will she vote? How will he vote? Will he be part of the soon to be reformed McCain “Washingtonian” Cabal that obstructs conservatives and is the darling of the NY Times? If so, I will weigh his sins more greviously than hers and choose her. Better a flawed conservative than a perfect moderate.

Well, if this is the only thing they can hold against her, it seems pretty trivial. We’ve seen it repeated again and again and again.

Her response is that she was on the campaign trail for long hours, and misspoke.

Do we really want a RINO hack with an ACU rating of 52.49?

And I agree about the unreliability of NRO. In the last presidential primary they went all out for Mitt Romney.

O'Donnell said that her political enemies were following her home and hiding in the bushes.

O'Donnell claimed Rasmussen Reports is faking its Delaware poll numbers on orders from the NRC.

O'Donnell JUST was awarded her college diploma this week after finishing the last of her coursework after long claiming to have the degree, walking across the stage more than a decade ago, and claiming for the past several years that she only didn't have the degree because of unpaid student loans.

O'Donnell claimed in an FEC filing to have made just $5,800 last year, then admitted to earning much more.

Let's get real, here. I don't want more unsuspecting conservatives suckered into giving their hard earned money to this clown. Vote for her to beat Castle, vote for Coons over Castle in November, but let there be no illusions about what kind of candidate Christine O'Donnell is.

Crichton: “According to Christine O’Donnell, anyone who says anything factual about her is on the payroll of the NRC/NRSC.”

Is that quoting her, sarcasm, or what? I listened to the infamous interview. I think the questions were fair, and I don’t like it when politicians (or interviewers) talk over each other. On the other hand, O’Donnell did NOT accuse the interviewer of working for Castle. That is an outright lie being spread on some blogs. At approximately 5:50 in the interview, she asks, “What happened? Is Castle paying you off (laughs)?” Since when is a question, spoken in a joking manner, considered an attack or accusation? People who are accusing her of lying should be careful to stick to the truth themselves.

Can you provide links to prove she claimed Rasmussen is distorting poll data, she claimed to earn more than she reported, and she recently finished coursework (not just paid off student loans) to get the degree?

I don’t particularly care for her, but I’m trying to separate truth from fiction. Truth is, I dislike Castle even more. This could be a lose lose situation.

Jim Geraghty (the National Review writer you refer to) is the same guy who assures us this morning that Scott’s running mate’s words in favor of McCollum during the primaries will be easy fuel for attack ads... even though she never made mention of Scott. I find it hard to understand how Sink might use statements like “McCollum... is the kind of person we need to make people think of Florida as not just the Disney state or the old folks’ state, but the R & D state” is going to work its way into an attack at.

Geraghty is not the National Review. There is a diversity of opinion at NR. But he need not be on the NRSC payroll; he’s just an establishment hack writing for a magazine with writers which include establishment hacks, wild-eyed idealists and everywhere in between... just like FR.

This kind of comment, incidentally, is waaaaay beneath Jim Geraghty, and should get his ass fired from National Review:

“3) I am remarkably curious as to how she lived on an income of $5,800 in 2009. If she had additional income, she lied on her financial disclosure forms and has violated the law. I need a response better than, “well, Biden did it, too.””

Given that he accuses O’Donnell for asserting that the interviewer is on the take from the RNSC precisely because she states (I guess in Geraghty’s opinion inadequately prompted) that she denies to people that he is, by Geraghty’s standards, he just accused her of a felony.

And on what basis? Does he somehow know she has no savings, no collateral, no credit and no financial assistance? Yes, she has had a tax lein in the past, meaning the IRS can be left to do its job scrutinizing her extra carefully... we don’t need Jim Geraghty being a vigilante revenue agent.

WILMINGTON, DE – On Thursday, September 2nd, Christine made the following statement to a crowd of over 200 supporters, in response to that day’s News Journal’s comment that Castle is gay:

“I do not endorse that kind of mudslinging, and I’m asking all of my supporters not to go down that route. I am challenging Mike Castle to publicly denounce GOP State Chairman Tom Ross’ mudslinging and ask all of the Delaware State Republican Committee to stop the thug politics.

From here on out, it should be about the stark contrast between our stances on the issues and let the voters decide based on our positions. Not only is it the high road for Mike Castle to take, it would be politically expedient. His personal attacks have caused my supporters to rally to my defense. We have received more donations in the past 3 days than the sum total of the past 3 weeks.“

Geraghty is basing his assessment on O'Donnell's statement that she made more than $5800 but only reported $5800.

Shoot the messenger much?

Look, I don't like Castle, but this gal's not playing with a full deck.

Experience as a disqualifier , that's the ticket. I guess O'Donnell's degree from commuter college twenty years ago trumps Castle's two terms as governor.

Has she finished paying off the loan yet?

Is Christine electable in November? Rasmussen had her up over Coons in July
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2553576/posts
Castle is being challenged in the state’s September 14 GOP primary by conservative activist Christine O’Donnell. Coons runs virtually even with O’Donnell who picks up 41% of the vote to the Democrat’s 39%.

DeMint endorsement coming?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2556853/posts
"...As O’Donnell criticizes Castle for supporting the bank bailouts, cap and trade and abortion rights, she appears to have caught DeMint’s attention. The two met recently and a spokesman for the senator’s political action committee said DeMint was “extremely impressed.”

“She’s a principled conservative who has been overlooked by the Washington establishment. The senator has not made an endorsement in this race but he's watching it closely to see if O'Donnell can get within striking distance,” Matt Hoskins said.

Tea Party Express: O'Donnell Trails By 2% Among Likeliest Voters
http://hotlineoncall.nationaljournal.com/archives/2010/09/tea_party_expre_2.php
Christine O'Donnell is trailing Rep. Mike Castle by only 2% among voters most likely to turnout in the Delaware Senate GOP primary, according to a Tea Party Express poll. The poll, obtained by Hotline On Call, found that among GOP voters who indicated they are most likely to vote -- or "10s" in polling lingo -- Castle leads O'Donnell 43% to 41%. The Tea Party Express released the top line of the poll on Thursday. That showed O'Donnell trailing Castle by nearly 6%, 43.7% to 38%. These new numbers suggest that Castle is significantly more vulnerable than originally believed.

Castle is a dyed in the wool statist.

O'Donnell is a Tea Party member.

Which one represents YOU!

If you think it is Castle, then you are posting on the wrong forum.

Your 'candidate' has an ethics problem as well as an electability problem. Deal with it.

As for whether or not I should be posting on this forum, kmap-m.

Castle has spent his public career robbing my wallet and stealing my Liberty. O'Donnell hasn't harmed me in the least. I trust O'Donnell with my future. I don't trust Castle any further than I can throw him.
