Most Republicans are probably thrilled that their party is in striking distance of regaining its majority in the U.S. House this fall. Yet for Anh "Joseph" Cao, the unlikely first-term GOP congressman from the overwhelmingly Democratic 2nd District, the battle for control could make his already uphill re-election run still more steep. (snip) On a personal level, Cao said, "I love the president, and I believe he truly likes me." Cao said he's visited the White House about 10 times -- not counting the Superbowl party that he missed...

Yes, in November. This is a Dem seat. Always was, always will be. This guy is an historic anomaly brought on by the corruption of their former congressman. He has zero chance of holding that seat.

Can he be voted out?

Cao will almost certainly be replaced by a Democrat in the next Congress.

He only won the seat because the incumbent, William ("Cold Cash") Jefferson (D), had an appointment at the pokey. And, in the wake of Katrina, the district's demographics were temporarily altered.

You can count on Cao disappearing into the electoral mists and another corrupt black Congressman (or woman) being elected in his stead.

Gotta cut this guy some slack folks. Check out the demographics of his district. That he got elected at all was a miracle.

He will be voted out in Nov. It’s a Dem district.

While I understand his representing the majority opinion in his district out of a principle larger than party politics, his “love” of someone who seeks to destroy our country is very troubling. Sorry, no slack cutting.

No great loss. He was the only Republican Congressman to vote for the stimulus. An Asian Republican running in a predominately black district against a black Democrat.I hope he has stored some cash in his freezer like his predecessor before they he becomes unemployed in November.

This BamBam lover was a speaker (however brief) at the March for Life. I refused to applaud him. I don’t know what idiot invited him but it was a blemish on the event.

He has an IL equivalent: the interim Republican seat holder between Rostenkowski and Blago.

The dems seek out the weak links and lure them in.

No different than the dems luring Brown. Another weak link.

It’s a hard left district that accidentally fell to us because of money in a freezer. I wish Joseph Cao well in his future endeavors.
