Bill Jefferson would've won despite all his legal trevails, but for a one-in-a-million confluence of bad luck. That election was postponed due to Hurricane Gustav, so when the Cao vs. Jefferson ballots were cast, Bill's usual supporters were already deep into their marathon Obama victory party. The ACORN machine took its eye off the ball.
