Coast Guard Petty Officer Casey Ranel said the rig is around 90 miles south of Vermilion Bay and that a helicopter earlier today reported that it was in fire "and that there was smoke and there were people in the water.''
In an interview with CNN, Coast Guard Petty Officer Bill Colclough said there were 13 people on the rig and that all were accounted for. Twelve of the workers are in immersion suits and one is injured, he said.

The people have been rescued. The fire is out.
Our Coast Guard reports NO oil sheen on the water.
The guys in the photo are NOT wearing immersion suits.
...er...ah...short sleeved immersion suits?
Yeah, that’s the ticket, immersion suits for casual occasions!
They are hoping that the brown stains don’t show!!!
What’s more, those dungarees clash horribly with those life jackets. Don’t people have any fashion sense anymore?
The reporting on this event is hosed!
Just read an article claiming two performing wells at this platform and a mile-long oil sheen.
What was first reported I believe to be true: “explosion at non-performing platform where repair work was in process and no fatalities reported. Men in the water”.
What I would like to know is why and how did it explode? This seems too damn convenient just a day or two after the courts said “NO” to a drilling ban in the Gulf.
Smells like propaganda to me.
It’s got my bs meter going, too. When cap and trade is being rejected in the Congress, suddenly everything having to do with oil is blowing up in the Gulf.
Zero’s Civilian Brownshirt forces have their own SEALS now?
No, that’s Zeros crack precision swim team practicing for the Chicago olympics. He forgot to tell them he didn’t get it, but they did come in handy for this exercise.
Just a couple of days ago some California hacks were screaming that they wanted no part of Texas oil companies operating in their state.
If I am not mistaken the oil rig in this case is owned by a Texas company.
