He said the guy was all shook up and worried (understandable) when he was at the station giving his statement, while the cops were basically high-5ing him.

Never talk to the cops.

RECKLESS INJURY OF INNOCENT THIRD PERSON. Even though an actor is justified under this chapter in threatening or using force or deadly force against another, if in doing so he also recklessly injures or kills an innocent third person, the justification afforded by this chapter is unavailable in a prosecution for the reckless injury or killing of the innocent third person.

I think this is a very good reason not to empty your pistol at a fleeing car.

Doesn’t do much good unless sitting in one’s truck.

Even then a rifle is a poor choice of weapons in a confined space.

Neat storage concept though.

Yes, I agree, and have posted the YouTube link for that many times here. Just the same, I have to like the fact that the cops were high-5ing him.

I suspect the good colonel was referring to a combat situation. Certainly he understood that any gun in your hand is infinitely superior to the best gun in the world in your truck (see below).

Exactly how did ole Coop conceal carry his rifle?

Actually, I was commenting on from occupied ga's post:

Except what happened to a friend of mine who was accosted by two armed "amish" males in his garage. He pulled his little pistor and shot at them. They ran away. A few minutes later he noticed a car coming slowly down the street, the window rolled down and they shot a number of 9mm rounds at him his car and his garage. fortunately they missed him. He fired back, but with a short barrel .32 all he hit was their side window. So fleeing assailant(s) doesn't mean you're safe.

The man used his pistol to drive off his assailants; by "a few minutes later" he might have gotten himself better armed, with a rifle or shotgun, and dealt with the second assault more effectively.

The story also illustrates your point: any weapon is better than a 'pocket full of nothing.' If he hadn't been carrying his little .32 he might well have lost his life.

Point was he wasn't expecting them to come back, and he was calling 911 on his cell. Sure if he knew what they intended to start with he could have set up a belt fed, but it's impractical to run around with your AK, and your comment was totally irrelevant anyway since we were addressing shooting fleeing assailants and whether or not you're safe once they leave.

Say they were trying to run you over in reverse.

Good point.
