There are a lot of idle libel threats in politics, but Jeff Greene's appears not to have been among them.
As Haberman notes, " it's a long road between filing a libel suit and actually winning one but it's also an expensive headache to fight against, which Greene is clearly aware of as he starts settling scores."
He spent the entire campaign basically calling Meek a lazy liar, and now HE’s the injured party? Oh well, just stand back and let the ‘Rats chew each other up/s;)
Greene is suing two Florida newspapers, not Meeks. The papers are the Miami Herald and the St.Petersburg Times.
I’m with Greene on this. Punish the St. Pete Times and Miami Herald.
He should try to find out in discovery if the writers participated in the Journolist, and whether there is evidence of actual malice as a result of coordinating efforts between the writers and the Democrat party.
Lazy is subjective but he was spot on about meek and his family
One idea to help create jobs in this state is to make toys of me, especially for the holidays. Little dolls. Like maybe action dolls. Me in an army uniform, air force uniform, and me in my suit.
As one of the few well-closeted conservatives in the Florida press, I am delighted over anything that might cause emotional and financial hurt to the posturing windbags who have ruined my profession.
It’s not just that they’re liberals, it’s that they’re smug, self-satisfied bores.
Actually, I’ve known at least one supposedly “conservative” editor who fell into this category — less concerned with upholding our Constitution than getting in the last word on every occasion.
Bottom line, journalism attracts the wrong kind of people. There’s just too many “bright young people” whose calling for this business consists mainly in a deep desire to become local celebrities and an even deeper belief that nobody is more deserving of this status than they.
Meanwhile, there’s never enough people who are really serious about working with words and facts. The need is there, but the abovementioned posturing windbags won’t hire them.
If he makes any progress against the Herald he will finish it off. They are down to giving 6 month subscriptions away for $30.00! This should be great. Finally a liberal scum bag’s money being spent for the actual greater good.
