We havent heard much from South Carolina Senate hopeful Alvin Greene since his back-to-school advice and sad/odd interaction with a TV reporter two weeks ago. That changed today when Greene stopped by a Charlotte radio station and delivered his trademark brand minimal substance and maximum weirdness. Oh, and he danced.
Greene offered host Keith Larson Greene-ish answers on matters ranging from his legal troubles (Theres a process for it) to his shaky military record (I didnt receive the necessary training required to perform my assigned tasks). When he really seemed in his element, though, was when Larson turned on mid-summer Youtube rap sensation/LeBron James highlight video/masterpiece Alvin Greene Is On The Scene. Greene danced the night away to this, and thankfully the Observer has video to prove it. Watch below:
(CLICK ON ABOVE LINK FOR THE VIDEO )
Greene did not dance particularly well, which was enjoyable, though just as good would have been if hed turned out to be a dancing savant. Anyway, Larson hit Greene with the relevation that he make[s] it a little bit challenging for folks who want to take [him] entirely seriously. And as much as we havent taken Greenes campaign very seriously, well, this video (also from the Charlotte Observer) is pretty sad. Greene is either a performance artist or does not have much of an idea what hes talking about, and it sounds like people are openly laughing at him throughout.
Nobody should have to be laughingstock, said one person interviewed for this article, which details yet further how Greene is completely ill-suited to be an elected official of any kind. But thats exactly what Greenes been since the second he somehow won that primary, and as hilarious and surreal as the story is, the guy is (again, assuming hes not a performance artist) in way, way over his head. He should not be campaigning. And maybe as difficult as it might be, with videos like the one above we shouldnt be laughing.
If only he were running against McCain.
He is probably more conservative than Lindsay Graham-nesty.

TITLE : Alvin Greene Dances During Radio Interview
Is he aware the Dancing With The Stars cast is already set for this season?
I praise Mr. Greene’s military service.
In other news, even a fellow black South Carolina politician won’t vote for him... (the poor guy, even his own party members won’t support him).

Clyburn won’t vote Greene for Senate
BY Elise Viebeck - 08/26/10 07:10 AM ET
House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-.S.C.) said Wednesday he will vote for write-in candidate Mazie Ferguson for Senate instead of Alvin Greene, the state’s Democratic nominee.
The AP reports Clyburn will refuse because Greene has been indicted on a felony charge.
Clyburn told reporters a vote for Greene, who was arrested in November on charges of showing pornographic images to a female student at the University of South Carolina, would be inconsiderate to the women in his family.
“Look, I have three daughters and a granddaughter. I think it would be an insult to them if I did that,” he said.
An unemployed veteran, the previously unknown Greene won the June 8 Democratic primary with 59 percent of the vote.
RE: I praise Mr. Greenes military service.
I’d vote for Greene if his opponent were say, The (un)Rev. Jesse “I have a scheme” Jackson.
This guy Greene is a sick joke...literally.
Well, he’s serious.... He published his manifesto at the GUARDIAN of the UK and now read this :
TITLE : Hey kids, U.S. Senate candidate Alvin Greene has some advice for you
EXCERPT :
The surprise U.S. Senate candidate reportedly has a degree in political science from a fully accredited outfit, the University of South Carolina. Of course, this fact is likely to make Gamecocks wince, and yet another reason for Clemson alumni to believe theirs is the superior state-run school. Which it is.
Seeing as how Alvin is a big-time politician, he’s now a certified South Carolina VIP. Some might even argue that makes him something of a person to respect, a sage even. Clearly, no one gets as far as he’s gotten on sheer luck alone.
So, the City Paper decided to chat for a bit with the Democratic candidate and see what, if any, advice he has for college students. Here goes:
On choosing Mon.-Wed.-Fri. classes or Tue. and Thurs. classes:
That makes no difference. That’s not a big deal. That doesn’t matter.
On choosing early morning classes:
That really doesn’t matter. That’s up to them.
On how to prepare for an exam:
They have to study and go to class. It’s that simple.
On dealing with a bad roommate:
Stay alone. Do without a roommate.
On buying textbooks:
I don’t know. There’s something good about me; they can check it out. I encourage people to look at my campaign and to vote for me for the United States Senate here in South Carolina. Alvin Greene. Yes. That’s a good thing.
On preventing the Freshmen 15:
Work out.
On the best kind of work outs:
It’s just whatever they’re comfortable with, aerobics, whatever just gets them gym time in. Sports. Recreation.
On choosing a major:
They have to choose something they’re interested in knowing and something in line with the profession they want to be in.
On not being broke in college:
Get a part-time job doing something, whatever, at the school, something locally.
On whether or not to join a fraternity or sorority:
That’s up to them. That’s an individual decision.
On combating a hangover:
I don’t know.
On getting a bad grade:
They can just try to find out what they didn’t do or what went wrong and learn from it next time. Study differently or something.
On being homesick:
Call home regularly. And go home on the weekends sometimes.
On washing laundry:
They have to do the laundry as needed, whenever it can fit into their schedule. Usually that is on the weekend or something, after class.
On having fun:
Go to the sporting events, the football games, the basketball games, whatever, the soccer games.
On taking notes:
They just need to make sure they have something to write with and something to write on. Be prepared and pay attention.
On meeting people:
They can always meet people. They have classmates.
On fraternizing with professors:
No fraternization. It should only be professional. That’s it.
On making the most of their college experience:
Taking their education seriously and working hard.
On paying student loans:
Support me and my campaign. I’m Alvin Greene for U.S. Senate, and I can come up with some ways they can just work, they can just maybe work their loans off. Do community projects or something.
Well, Alvin is the perfect Democrat isn’t he, always blaming someone else for his problems, right?
BTW, Alvin’s dancing was so bad I’m told that he finally broke the myth about blacks having rhythm.
I also heard on the QT that there’s going to be a new version of the “Alvin and the Chipmunks Show” which has a fourth chipmunk added, namely an African-American chipmunk named Alvin G. They’ll do wacky schticks like they did on the Bob Newhart show, like “Hi, this is my brother Alvin and my other brother Alvin”.
And naturally many episodes will be centered around the confusion of the two chipmunks with the same name. Alvin G will be dimwitted and slow, but he’ll be the one that ultimately saves the day through shear dumb luck. We’ll also see the poor little fellow try to breakdance and perform rap and such, but he’ll be truly awful at it, getting his feet tangled up and taking pratfalls and the like. I even heard they might make Alvin G a Republican. You know, just for laughs.
Honestly, what harm could he do in DC? He would probably do less harm than almost anyone there.
RE: He is probably more conservative than Lindsay Graham-nesty.
See his answers to an interview in Post #11 above...
You can mock the man or make fun of him, but I tell you this — he looks like he’s much better than a lot of politicians we have out there.
His advise to college kids does not have a whiff of class envy, ask-government-for-handouts or whining in it. Dare I even say he’s advising kids to work and study hard and not to count on any influence to successed ?
I wonder how Al Sharpton would answer these questions...
Besides, Greene DID graduate from college and served his country honorably.
LOL. This guy is the pride — and the future — of the Democrat Party.
RE: Well, Alvin is the perfect Democrat isnt he, always blaming someone else for his problems, right?
This guy is a mixed bag. Look at his answers to an interview regarding advise to college students in Post #11 above. I don’t see a trace of “blame others” in his response at all.
Al Franken will probably grab him to co-sponsor some bill that will undoubtedly screw us.
If it was not for the weird college arrest thing - I kind of like him. He actually had the guts to run and he won. Alvin Greene is probably 3 times better than Lindsay Graham-nesty or McCain.
All the stinking RINOs who supported MCCain like Myth Romney, Palin, and others.
“This guy Greene is a sick joke...literally.”
So is McCain.
