A Note to My Fellow Hawks [barf alert: Kristol praises Zer0]
Weekly Standard ^ | 8/31/2010 | William Kristol

Posted on 09/01/2010 11:45:20 AM PDT by VictoryGal

President Obama opposed the war in Iraq. He still thinks it was a mistake. It's therefore unrealistic for supporters of the war to expect the president to give the speech John McCain would have given, or to expect President Obama to put the war in the context we would put it in. He simply doesn't believe the war in Iraq was a necessary part of a broader effort to fight terror, to change the Middle East, etc. Given that (erroneous) view of his, I thought his speech was on the whole commendable, and even at times impressive.

Yes, his ability to stare at a teleprompter and read the words on the screen is undoubtedly impressive. But that's all he's got. Even the Dems are realizing this now.

I have never liked, trusted or believed Kristol. He is only where he is because his Daddy Irvine set it up for him.

Inside the beltway moderates like Kristol will never understand that the country is in a fight for its very existence with these people.

They really need to step aside.

There is no excuse for saying anything good about Obama, anytime, anywhere.

The speech was ok.

The issue is that 0'Zer0, himself didn't
believe one single word he was reading.

So, it was a well told lie.

The most impressive part was when he debunked the Ayn Randians-supply siders and Keynsians when he implicitly admitted that borrowing massive amounts of money takes credit away from business and stifles economic growth.

Of course, he is a snake, and blamed it all on financing the war, borrowed money that pales in comparison to the stimuluses and porkuluses he supported, but he understands the economics. But he will continue to strip mine America for his buddies and contributors far beyond Bush and his ilk have done.

Him saying that was like a dare to the Repubs. He knew they could not reply except to proclaim a balanced budget policy contrary to their rip-off the people via the government policy. Which they will never do, it does not line their pockets.

But I got to say, Obama’s got balls for saying that, with a straight face.

I am a hawk and cannot bear that he is CIC...cannot bear to hear him discuss a war he has hated.
It was as good as can be expected from Zer0.
Remember he voted against funding the troops...very anti Iraq war..anti surge.
I have only watched snippets and reading it here makes it seem better..considering the speechgiver..
He was dead eyed..He read the words without conviction.
I just cannot bear to watch him.

I am not a hawk. I think we have huge and almost insurmountable problems in our domestic affairs, and need to look inward and focus on our economy and our actual borders and coasts rather than spend time, blood and treasure overseas. I don’t like Kristol for his “hawkishness” or his go along get along approach to domestic issues. And when he praises Obama’s foreign policy he’s gone over the edge and has fallen all the way to bottom. Speak softly and carry a big stick. Means a strong economy (that’s what allows for a big stick). Don’t have to swing it.

Short memories. Bill Kristol used to be a popular man in certain circles. Ah well, fickleness is the essence of both whores and mobs.

Kristol gulped the Koolaid when even a cursory analysis of the speech would have shown him that 0bummer was blaming his recession on the cost the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. His ineffective Porkulus alone cost more than both wars. Then there was his graceless dishonesty in not acknowledging that the strategy that finally turned the tide (at least for the present) was formulated by the Bush administration under withering criticism from "the one" and other Demonrats who declared the surge a failure and the war in Iraq lost.

I thought his blaming the economy on war costs was so predictable..so Zer0..Everything is Bush’s fault doncha know.
He is not about to give Bush credit for anything but that he supports the troops..and coming from Zer0..I wonder if that is credit.

"Ugh"

Your mistake is thinking that this article was written for your pleasure. It wasn't.

It was written to agitate the left wingers and pacifists who are already irritated with Obama's foreign policies that they see as too militant.
