HOUSTON (Reuters) - A federal judge in New Orleans rejected on Wednesday the U.S. government's request to dismiss a lawsuit challenging its original 6-month deepwater drilling moratorium.
Hornbeck Offshore Services Inc and other oil companies sued the government when it first ordered a halt to deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico in May after BP Plc's well rupture that killed 11 workers and caused the world's worst offshore spill.

Obama’s brilliance on display.
As with the auto industry. Manufacturers aren’t selling enough cars. He takes over GM and Chrysler and then shuts down dealerships and the sales people are fired.
Obamawisdom on parade.
By closing off the deep water drilling he exposed the Gulf to more danger of a spill than if he had let the drilling continue.
Carefully inspecting the rigs one by one would have been a much safer way to progress.
No one tells O, he knows it all.
The list, ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Ha! How 'bout them apples?
Let me guess: In response to the news, a disappointed President Obama issued a new executive order banning drilling in the gulf.
Doesn’t seem to make a whole lot of difference to the Obama regime. They just ignore anything they want to, like the Law, the Constitution, or a Federal Judges ruling.
Louisiana and Texas - please secede from the union and withhold your oil. We will join you later.
Equivalent knee-jerk reaction: A Pinto is rear-ended and blows up, so all cars are banned for six months.
What part of “no” doesn’t the administration understand?
Obama will appeal it and then make sure a leftist progressive judge hears the case.
The big Zero maybe should be called The King of Unemployment -- the Loser of American Jobs
Next stop: the UN
“Let me guess: In response to the news, a disappointed President Obama issued a new executive order banning drilling in the gulf.”
LOL...and sadly, probably true.
“and caused the world’s worst offshore spill.”
Was this really the worst? Has everything living died in the gulf?
I think that statement is debatable.

Yeah, good point.
What part of “NO!” doesn’t this stupid f——r get?
Doesn’t matter.
Still not granting any permits.
Any applications to drill are balled up in the “approval” process and going through endless cycles of review and questions and adjustment and interpretation of the new rules (which by the way I consider illegal since there has been no comment period).
The bureaucrats in BOEM / MMS or whatever they call themselves will not stick their necks out one inch because they have had their phony baloney jobs threatened byt he administration / Salizar.
Hate to be a party pooper, but under the Seperation of Powers Clause, Obama has no control over the assignment of Judges, which in the Fifth Circuit, will come from Mississipi, Louisiana, and Texas. The litigants will not even know which three judges will be assigned to the panel to hear the appeal until a few days before oral argument, and indeed, the chief clerk who assigns the panel of judges will not even know who will hear the appeal until the case is fully briefed and ready for oral argument.
