With a new round of layoffs expected this fall, CBS News is being trimmed to the bone. Rebecca Dana on the dramatic drop in ratings, strange BlackBerry blackouts, and eager suitors for anchor Katie Couric.
On Monday, Katie Couric begins her fifth, and quite possibly final, year of hard labor as anchor of the CBS Evening News.
However she chooses to mark the occasion, it will no doubt be more subdued than the tears, dancing, and $10 million promotional campaign that attended her debut on Sept. 5, 2006.

CBS News Collapses ...Not surprising since CBS is sticking to their 87,000 estimate of the Restoring Honor crowd.
Yet another case of "fake but accurate" reporting by the Tiffany Network.
Dan Rather must be so proud...

I am sure that being the good lib she is...she'll give back most of the money she's made in an effort to keep the layoffs from happening... (obvious sarcasm)
To: SeekAndFind
I hope they keep her....the longer she stays the more they tank.....they will most likely replace her with a clone of Dan Rather!!!!

If SeeBS really wanted an audience, they would hire Mark Steyn to take Katie’s unused spot. He’s subbing for Rush today and is great, as usual. Best line so far: “President Obama was an unmanned drone last night.”

yes, she seems to get richer and more rewards
despite doing a terrible job. now,
she will be handed a new job worth millions
of dollars. next time, i wish sara palin would
turn tables on katie. ask her how she felt about
being paid millions while people in america
went on foodstamps. ask her if she
feels sleeping with married cnn boss was
way to get to top. (i worked cnn atlanta when she
was there.)

Katie is no longer young and perky. It’s unfair but true - tv viewers don’t prefer older women with droopy faces and all women eventually get old. Older men can look “dignified” as they age but the same just doesn’t work with women.

One of the rumors floating around is that Katie is going to replace Oprah when Oprah retires from her show next year. I’ll bet Katie will fail at that endeavor too.

Rarely watch Couric, usually the ABC Evening News with Diane Sawyer. Problem with Diane Sawyer is that the program has turned into news lite, with way to much touchy feely stuff thrown in. Much of it more suitable for GMA rather than the evening news. Often times they use the evening news slot to promo a show slated for viewing later in the evening. Stick to unbiased (I know that's asking the impossible) news worthy stories and your ratings will improve.
