Thanks. The only city I wouldn’t have guess is Buffalo, NY.
Besides the cities in Michigan & Ohio, the one that kept hitting my mind like a neon sign is Allentown. Or any of the big steel cities, really. And there are a lot of those, with other names.
We’ll have to be adding auto support industry cities to that list any time now.....
Buffalo has ten thousand abandoned houses.
Anyway, when ancient Rome became too corrupt, too taxing of the labor and artisan class, the people fled the cities for the wilds, even crossing over into lands ruled by invading tribes, as they were less taxed and more at liberty then the with the paper shufflers, code enforcers, standing domestic army, kings and princes of the Roman government.
