Republican money for same-sex marriage
Politico ^ | 10/31/10 | Ben Smith

Posted on 09/01/2010 6:39:01 AM PDT by BitterKlingon

Ken Mehlman's fundraiser for same-sex marriage will be, among other things, a gathering of some of the most high-profile -- and deep-pocketed -- backers of gay marriage on the right. The names of Bill Weld, Christie Todd Whitman, Steve Schmidt, and Mary Cheney's didn't surprise me. Other names did a bit: Bush aides Mark and Nicolle Wallace are on there, as is top GOP lawyer Ben Ginsberg.

Most notably, Mehlman's fundraiser extends the reach of same-sex marriage backers to the very top Republican donor pile: The private equity titan Henry Kravis (who's also Mehlman's boss at KKR) is among the hosts. And the event is at the home of Paul Singer, the hedge fund tycoon recently profiled in the Times as the embodiment of Wall Street's support for Republicans. Also, former RNC Finance Chairman Lew Eisenberg.

Politics sometimes follows the money, and there's a path here -- if Mehlman, in particular, chooses to cultivate it -- for pro-same-sex marriage Republicans to raise a huge pile of money.

When you want to know what's really going on, follow the money.

In this case, the money indicates that the Republicans are following the Tea Party lead and dropping the distractions in order to focus on fiscal solvency. That bodes ill for the Democratic Party this fall....

I have more respect for Democrats.

I can respect an enemy who toes the line, even though he’s my enemy. But I have nothing good to say about weasels who sell out our side for money, like cheap whores.

(Speaking of which...This article failed to mention Ann Coulter’s donation. Well, not exactly a donation. She was paid for her service to the enemy.)

Any wonder why the Bush’s and their Blue-Blood Country-Clubber RINOs were/are SO F*cked Up. Look at who they hung out with.

Garbage!

Moral issues are not distractions.

Those who drop them have no morals and no principles and should be booted from the party!

This list of losers have just outed themselves.

Furthermore, the further the GOP walks away from moral issues, the more elections they will lose because more than a third of their base are those people (Christians) who are concerned the most with these issues.

They should be following Reagan's model, tackle all three issues at the same time, Fiscal, Moral, and Military.

That is the winning formula!

This is a list of the unelectable.

Chritie Todd Whitman jumps out. She is a super RINO who TRIED to set her self up as an aternative to palin. IOW: Palis is a woman, Whitman is a woman, therefore they are the same.

Now we know why melman jumped out of the closet officially. He is diverting funds from the GOP at large to fund democrat causes.

These are not republicans, they are homosexual supporters perior. (sorry liz)

dropping the distractions in order to focus on fiscal solvency

How does supporting a radical social position that a majority of Americans and a LARGE majority of their own base oppose, count as "dropping the distractions"?

If the distraction is gay marriage, it looks to me like these people are EMBRACING the distraction. That's very different from dropping it.

Yep..embracing for sure. Looks like the some Republicans like the idea of becoming a minority party forever. Once the Christian walk on these losers there won’t be much left except the left.

Mark and Nicole Wallace worked on McCain's 2008 campaign and are the ones that sabotaged Sarah Palin.

The GOP would be better off without everyone this article mentions.

Mitt Romney On who he aligns himself with in the GOP:

“Well probably more like Bill Weld. It’s hard for me to align them person by person but I think Bill Weld comes as close as anyone. … I think Bill Weld’s fiscal conservatism, his focus on creating jobs and employment and his efforts to fight discrimination and assure civil rights for all is a model that I identify with and aspire to.”

.... and for the Republicans as well. For every one gay Republican or immoral sex appeaser that supports the gay agenda they will lose two right thinking social conservatives. It is good to see the gays in the Republican party start coming out of the closet. It makes easier for those like me to vote for socially conservative Tea Party candidates and third party socially conservative candidates and shun any Republican that doesn't support the social issues.

I've said it before and I'll say it again:

All these RINO's are nothing but Democrat infiltrators.

Did you notice the RINOS aren't whining about the abortion issue in the platform anymore? Because it didn't work the last eight years and now they have a new monkey wrench to throw at the Republican party, SAME SEX MARRIAGE. This will be the new issue the RINOS will whine about in the party platform and hand the media the club to batter Republicans with over and over and over and over.

Don't fall for it!

Yeah, the Klingon is a troll, but the article is important. Moles, RINOs and sexual perverts are trying to destroy the Republican party and make it so Dems win. With a secondary goal of turning the GOP into a Dem-lite clone. All-"gay", all the way, is their goal. It makes you wonder why. Not in Mehlman's case, he's a homosexual activist. Or Mary Cheney, same deal. Conservatives need to know what the enemy is up to, to be able to fight, and defeat it.

If you click the link, there is an invitation or something to the "American Foundation for Equal Rights" shindig. It would be good to be able to read all the names on it. Two big names are Ted Olsen and that other lawyer, David Boewies or whatever it is, hard to read.
