Yeah, just a general impression from years of reading NY papers. But it does seem to make sense, taxing people with huge incomes at a rate of 3.648% is bound to raise lots of money.

The problem with upstate is they don’t have much income, so any tax is a problem. If your income is $500K, you can manage to pay half of it in taxes. But that is not the case if your income is $30K.

The three Republicans fighting it out in the Sept. 14 primary are still pretty much unknown to most of the electorate. The hope would be that the primary winner will use whatever funds he has to start an advertising blitz for November.

As Clintonfatigued pointed out, Gillibrand isn't polling very well for an incumbent, and there seem to be a heck of a lot of undecideds in there. Plus, independents are swinging nationally to Republicans this year.

Everybody plagiarizing D’Amato.

People don’t know anything about them because the campaigns won’t really get started until after the Republican primary.

Blakeman had better be all ready and fast off the mark if he vanquishes the Bear Stearns candidate and the KLA candidate. We have so many issues to zing her on.

Yes, the general fed-up-ness will help defeat her. Plus even the marginally political don’t like flipflopping. And the fact that she was the only senator up for reelection who voted No on defundng ACORN revealed her as spastic Obama/Schumer fingerpuppet that she now is.

Only Malpass will have the cash to run. He is a great guy with the right message. I have been trying to get him to be more animated to fire people up. He is getting better in front of crowds.

Too many will perceive him as one of the Wall Street thieves. Plus he has reservations about the Defense of Marriage Act. The pro-lifers will go elsewhere; even if they vote for Paladino, they will split their vote if they have to.

The conventional wisdom is that an incumbent who polls less than 50% is in trouble. It is also conventional wisdom that you can't beat somebody with a nobody.

Blakeman’s ex-wife is dating Paul McCartney. That’s about all I know about him.

Few rat Senators are polling well. If we had top candidates for every race we could have potentially put every rat seat in play. That makes recruitment failures like NY unfortunate.

A year ago, no one had any idea that the tide would turn to the degree that it has. Perhaps the Republican nominee in NY will be willing to use his personal wealth if he has it.

“I’ve met Joe DioGuardi. he’s the one we need.”

What do you like about him?

He is prolife. I wonder if the other GOP candidates are.

I don’t have confidence in Quinnipiac’s accuracy.

It’s almost definitely not a two-way matchup. New York is an oddball state. We could have as many as three right-of-center candidates running on November 2.

No. But they are stronger in other areas. Blakeman is the best on national security.

I hope it can be said she inherited her mother’s brains if the dad gets the nomination, much less elected.

He’s in favor of parental notification. That’s about as far as he is willing to go on the life issue. But he’s good on national security. So is Berntsen, running to be the nominee against Schumer.

He’s a CPA, who was practicing when he was first elected to Congress the last time. He was always concerned about the deficit and debt and the level of government spending. Other members of congress hated him (an A plus in my opinion). When a member of congress asked him when he was going to take off his green eyeshade, he replied (when you tak off your blinders.)

I met him when he was the lunch speaker at a conference on financial planning that was presented by the Pennslyvania Institute of CPA’s. He is an energetic ball of fire. He fights for the taxpayers.

Are you calling Kara stupid? She always struck me as the smartest on the show. (Simon’s definitely the wittiest; Ellen, Paula and Randy always struck me as comparably stupid, although in Ellen’s case, it’s probably actually more simple ignorance than stupidity.)
