President Barack Obama called former President George W. Bush Tuesday hours before he was set to deliver an Oval Office speech on the drawdown of U.S. troops from Iraq, the White House said.
Obama made the call aboard Air Force One on his way to Ft. Bliss, Tex., where he will visit U.S. troops.
White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton said the private call lasted a few minutes, but declined to give further detail.
Obama telephoned Bush in February 2009 before announcing his plans for withdrawing troops from Iraq.

W should have told OZero what to do with the phone... but... W has much more class than I.
He respects the office even if he might not respect the man in the office.
It would have been much more interesting had zero called Cheney.
THAT’S the call I would want to be a fly on the wall for!!!
I wish Laura had taken the call and said, “I’m sorry, George is just far too busy this morning to take calls from A-Holes!”
Obama: “How do you be president? I don’t know how.”
GWB: “Well, in the first place, it helps to be an American.”
Probably calling to ask Bush II for advice on the speech, and knowing that dimwit Bush II, he probably would give it to him.
A Meeting of the Mind(less).
Be gone, you nasty so and so!!
Obama: "Hey, Chimpy, this is the President. If you are wondering if I'm going to give you any credit in my speech tonight, don't be such a sap. Ha-ha." (Click.)
Gee...an example of a number 1, A-Hole showing up on this thread! Who’d of thunk it?!?
Yep, will give him credit for ‘his efforts’, ‘working hard’ and ‘trying’ to do what only Obama could accomplish.
Agreed. I’m sure W told the muslim what a wonderful job he is doing. Then at the end of the conversation he said “Mr. President, mmm, uhh, I don’t believe that you’re a mmmm, uhh, mmm a maslam. hee hee”
We're all excited about the Change of Command ceremony tomorrow and the transition from Operation Iraqi Freedom to Operation New Dawn. The base is crazy with closed streets (I had to turn around and drive down a one-way going the wrong way this evening because of one...the military guys at the closure point said "Oh, it's OK - we're sort of making exceptions right now." LOL) and frenzied preparation and there's an excitement in the air.
We won't be too terribly surprised if the "neighbors" try to launch things or pull some nasty stunt, but we pray all goes well.
President Bush made it clear from the very beginning that the US would stand down when the Iraqi were ready to stand up. That is why he would never make a date certain.
Hang in there, Allegra. We appreciate and honor your service.
Amazing day for you all, dear Allegra .. !!
I can imagine the excitement. And against the
lib politicians’ most fervent wishes and
designs.
You all have prevailed ..! Thank you, Lord, for
the perseverance of our brave troops and the
vital support provided them by YOU ALL, day in
and day out.
Your long sandbox service has been nothing short
of pure devotion and loyalty .. God bless and
protect you forever.
I hope you’ll post your observations as the
days roll out in this new chapter.
THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!
If you are a “conservative”. You left out Carter II.
Is Osbama a Muslim?
I know he is a Marxist.
For a narcisist (Obama), this had to be quite difficult.
