The arrests of two men in Amsterdam for questioning in a terrorism investigation comes at a time U.S. law enforcement officials have been on a heightened state of alert to a possible hijacking of U.S. carrier flights from the Middle East, according to one senior U.S. official.
As a result, air marshals were onboard a Chicago-Amsterdam flight yesterday and kept a close watch on two suspicious passengers who had triggered security alarms, but were allowed to travel for "investigative purposes," law enforcement sources told ABC News.

“we donât arrest people unless there are actual explosives or traces of explosives in their luggage “
The 9-11 hijackers didn’t have explosives either, all they had was some boxcutters and killed over 3000 innocent people and caused many billions of dollars of damage to the US economy.
Boycotting the airlines just hurts the airlines. As an airline employee I can tell you we are just as frustrated as the traveling public. We should be able to profile and those with passports of certain other countries should get extra screening. The PC in this administration is sickening.
People need to stop getting their knickers in a twist over the full body scanners as well. They are a good tool and I would much rather have that than someone’s hands all over me. As far as I’m concerned, if some knuckle head TSA guy sitting in a remote booth gets his jollies from looking at my scan, I could care less, if it saves time and inconvenience. Real privacy doesn’t exist anymore anyway unless you are a hermit living in some backwoods cabin.
Now how would nude body scanners have helped in this case? Funny how the govt can never seem to make the terrorists’ lives more difficult, then only seem to want to harass ordinary people, in hopes of MAYBE getting the one in a million terrorist. ANYTHING except for profiling. In fact, they do profile, although it is “reverse” profiling.
I think the muzzies got it all wrong. I thought Pepto is used to prevent certain types of explosions.
My oldest daughter and her husband are in Paris this week. They flew Delta. Will fly Delta coming home. Will be on pins and needles saying prayers until they land safely home.
I am a little confused, These two came into ORD on different flights, One was suppose to go to DC and had his bag checked to that destination. He got off that flight late in the process and then boarded the flight where the other person was going over seas. If they knew about the luggage why was it not taken off and not found until it was in DC? It flew without him. I think that was the dry run. Can we get a bag on a flight then get off.
“in part because they have learned the men’s abrupt change in flights resulted from them missing their original flight. “
Maybe missing their “original flight” was part of their plan?
The purpose of any week-long boycott would be only to get the Fed’s attention that their profiling rules are stupid.
Safety measures before boarding a plane don’t bother me. What bothers me is that they subject us to them but don’t use their full potential against the people most likely to be problems. And that ends up rendering them far less effective than they could be.
Agreed about the safety measures, but still a boycott would only serve to hit the airlines hard financially, and the TSA wouldn’t mind...they will get the same pay, less work and they don’t have to worry about their job security like airline employees do. An airline boycott is going after the wrong people. I don’t know how you would get the fed’s attention, they simply don’t care and do what their Dear Leader and Big Sis tells them to.
