The arrests of two men in Amsterdam for questioning in a terrorism investigation comes at a time U.S. law enforcement officials have been on a heightened state of alert to a possible hijacking of U.S. carrier flights from the Middle East, according to one senior U.S. official.
As a result, air marshals were onboard a Chicago-Amsterdam flight yesterday and kept a close watch on two suspicious passengers who had triggered security alarms, but were allowed to travel for "investigative purposes," law enforcement sources told ABC News.

Ok ,then they need to explain why he had a cell phone taped to a bottle of Pepto
Nailed it. Of course the MSM doesn't consider this to be a big story. Shades of 9/11 and this administration doesn't even address it. Too busy preparing for his big Iraq extravaganza speech and unveiling of the new white house tonight. I, for one, won't be watching.
So, if it were misread bu the authorities, and these 2 clowns were not hijackers but wanna-be martyrs, and their test was a live bomb that exploded at 20K feet, would that mean “the system worked” also?
Because TSA really had no clue and this is an attempt to cover it up and make them look competent.DING! DING! DING!
We have a WINNER!
"These two passengers have not been charged with any crime in the United States and we caution you against jumping to any conclusions," said a statement issued by the Department of Homeland Security Tuesday afternoon.Maybe HS can send defense attorneys to the Netherlands to help these two poor misunderstood "passengers" out.
“Why weren’t THEY put through extra security and ARRESTED BEFORE boarding the flight!!!! “
Because Bo Biden was not on the plane.
Because Sasha and Malik Obama were not on the plane.
Because Chelsea Clinton was not on the plane.
Because Pelosi and Reids kids were not on the plane.
Understand?
We're not 100% sure, but he's a she
I do not believe that it has been reported whether or not the two had return tickets, or where they were bound from Schipol, if anywhere. Perhaps they were carrying the material to Holland for use on another flight.
Nepolincompetano will still think the system works ...even after a plane goes down
Nothing suspicious there.
I always tape my cell phones either to each other or to a bottle when traveling.
“on high alert” would explain the incident. Create a lot of “chatter” then run all the terror symbols in a nonillegal manner through the system. It would be a sort of reverse crying of wolf.
I believe it did but that is no kudos to the system The Muslims played “terrorist” with all the symbols on them to razz the systems and to keep Americans scared. And i am sure they made the trip surrounded by agents and as it was known when they first boarded what was in their luggage, they were allowed to continue. I imagine they wanted to see would show up at Schiphol to meet them.
Of course the TSA would flag a white haired grandma who forgot she had a tube of skin cream.
They had checked them and everything in their (other) checked luggage, and I’m sure the people sitting all around them were probably air marshalls. I was worried about somebody else having stashed something on the plane that they could get up and use, but even if that had been the case, I doubt that they could have gotten anywhere near it.
This was a test run to see how our system works. In this case, it seems to have worked well. But it has also informed them that they (a) can’t fly separately from their checked luggage; (b) we don’t arrest people unless there are actual explosives or traces of explosives in their luggage (meaning that they will find something else to use); and that we will release them without serious questioning, no matter how unlikely it is that they were up to anything innocent.
If anyone is interested, you can go to al.com and see an interview with one of the suspected terrorists roommates in Tuscaloosa.
*The 9/11 hijackers did not know each other either. They trained separately and each had their own job to do and itinerary on how to meet up for each flight.
On profiling ...
DH and I were “profiled” on a trip to Israel. El-Al peeps collared us b/c we didn’t fit the profile of elderly Methodists, apparently.
I don’t know who got more irked — the El-Al guy or the dairy farmer’s wife whose long-awaited vacation hung in the balance. After some raised voices and waving arms we were OK ;-)
I didn’t mind and I was not offended, because we had nothing to hide.
I discovered on my trips abroad this summer that 2 hours is the minimum layover I’m ever going to accept on an itinerary ever again.
I flew into Amsterdam, and the goofballs did not taxi to a chute attached to the airport, but instead parked the plane on the tarmac, had us wait for a bus, loaded us aboard, and proceeded to drive us to a terminal not of our choice. On the way ACROSS THE TARMAC, believe it or not, we ran into a traffic jam and sat in traffic for 30 minutes. Not kidding; swear it’s the truth. They ran traffic across their tarmac.
Yes. It is what is in a Person’s HEART that makes them a terrorist.
Not what is in their handbag.
