Democrats seek separation from Nancy Pelosi
Politico ^ | August 31, 2010 | Alex Isenstadt & John Bresnahan

Some of the Democratic Party’s most endangered lawmakers are taking steps to distance themselves from Speaker Nancy Pelosi in an attempt to inoculate themselves from charges that they are beholden to the unpopular House leader and supportive of the ambitious national Democratic agenda.

Three vulnerable Democrats from conservative-oriented districts are already running TV ads spotlighting their defiance of Pelosi. One freshman incumbent recently joked about the possibility of Pelosi not being able to take up the gavel next year because she might pass away. Another member from a tough district suggested he might run for speaker himself.

The roster of Democrats currently playing six degrees of separation from Pelosi spans the map, from the Northeast to the South and across the Midwest to South Dakota.

The GOP has used Pelosi, who represents a liberal San Francisco congressional district, as a wedge against vulnerable Democrats for almost as long as she has been in Democratic leadership. But with Election Day just nine weeks away, the sprint away from the House speaker highlights the increasing urgency with which the party’s most vulnerable legislators are trying to prove their independence from Democratic leaders and the Capitol Hill agenda that has defined President Barack Obama’s first term in office.

Every Republican candidate needs to put this albatross around the neck of every democrat running for office, no matter what- “You really want a Pelosi supporter as YOUR county dogcatcher?”

I’m pretty sure every single incumbent Democrat congresscritter voted for Queen Nancy for Speaker - and it shouldn’t hurt to remind them of that no matter how hard they try to run from her.

The Marxists worked with determination to undermine this country with ObamaCare. The November elections will demonstrate that Pelosi and the Democrats marched right into fixed bayonets.

This is the impact of Rahm Emmanuel's takeover strategy when he helped to guide the candidates selected to run in the Congressional races, choosing to run 'Blue Dogs' in conservative districts.

Glad to see this come back to haunt them.

I absolutely agree with this. If any Republican campaign staffers are reading this, Pelosi is your target, not Obama.

If your opponent voted for Pelosi, remind the voters. Add in a few choice quotes like:

"You have to pass the bill to see what's in it."

"The people opposing this mosque should be investigated!"

"Are you serious?" (when asked about the Constitutionality of Obamacare)

The Speaker of the House is 3rd in the line of succession for the Presidency. Do you really want Pelosi 2 heartbeats away from the Oval Office?

That photoshopped image is SO true. Remember, she's married to the very rich Paul Pelosi, and as such she's living high on the hog not only on his dime but also on the taxpayer's dime (explain all those trips on a private jet and that Federal building office space rental in San Francisco costing over US$17,000 per month (!) that is used full time only about two months per year).

I am not vindictive here, ie. eye for an eye but I need to ask...

If they take the House, Who will be the head of House Ethics and Judiciary, and what will they look into over the 2 years that will have them in the hot seat, especially queen Nancy....

The general response needs to be about how his or her vote is the one who put Pelosi in charge.
