Driving to Lancaster from Philadelphia Friday afternoon, my wife and I passed through a town named Ephrata. In was named after the town that, in ancient times, was part of the city of Bethlehem; today it is a thriving Israeli city of 8,000-plus. Friends and colleagues who were meeting us in Lancaster passed towns named Bethlehem, Nazareth, Lebanon, and Zion. Early Pennsylvanians believed, as many modern ones do, in the Divine promise that the exiled Jews would be returned to the land of Bethlehem and Zion. How appropriate, I thought, to help usher in our Shabbat with Governor Palin, an American political leader who, more closely than many, identifies with the Holy Land, ancient and modern.

The Pennsylvania Family Institute, sponsor of the weekend event with Mrs. Palin, is a Christian conservative advocacy group whose positions on many issues are at odds with the liberal social views espoused by many American Jews. In other words, not the community with which one might expect Jews to be breaking challah. But the Institutes web site raises concerns that many Jews share that rapidly-rising rates of out of wedlock births, juvenile crime and drug use, and sexually-transmitted diseases are symptomatic of "a culture that is turning its back on the family."
Independent-minded American Jews, like their Christian counterparts, are justifiably alarmed by these phenomena and are searching for ways to return stability and morality to American family life. It was to in support of this goal that my organization, Jewish Americans for Sarah Palin, set up a Shabbaton a Sabbath gathering for meals, songs, prayers, and conversation with the assistance of the Pennsylvania Family Institute, to be a part of their weekend with Mrs. Palin.

She knows she can win the GOP nomination, but I think she wants to really evaluate her chances of winning the general election knowing the lame stream will destroy her all over again.
“It is also the reason why so many evil forces are out for her. Its spiritual warfare.”
“Its the only explanation for the level of hate the left/media have for her.”
.
Right on!
The only battle there has ever been is the attempt to defeat the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
.
I copied and pasted to look it up and found it anyway. LOL!
Seems as if that "dummy" tag on prominent Republicans has been a favorite political smear on the part of the 'Rats in the last 50 years or so. And some of those said to be dumb, like Eisenhower and Ford, weren't even conservatives.
One doesn't need to have a degree from an Ivy League school to have sufficient smarts to be president. Plus, as you said, a moral compass and sense of what the United States is uniquely about are essential as well, and an Ivy league education doesn't necessarily provide that - especially with the domination of the left on elitist college campuses in recent decades.
LOL. Kiddush with the d's? LOL.

They would do the same to anyone that had the same committment.
Sarah Palin is the one that the Lord has commissioned for this task, so she is the one that must persue it. It has been plain to see from the moment that McCain introduced her at the convention. His demonic campaign staff recognized it, as did the servants of Satan in the media.
This is the same kind of hatred that was directed at the Lord by the Pharisees.
It comes also from a small handful of freepers that are determined to destroy her for the same reason.
.
I agree.
Knowing how God leads us one step at a time, I believe she is doing that now. Where God leads her next, I don’t believe she is sure just yet.
We know that she prays and she will find her answer in prayer, just like you’ve both said.
If God be with us, who against?
Amen. So may it be!

I’m talking about the winery.

Esther? I understand the idea of her beauty, but I would place her more in the realm of a Deborah, who went into battle when the men wouldn’t without them.
She also spoke that a woman would gain the victory over a man...sound familiar?
I have more, but it makes this a pretty long reply.
As the Jewish scriptures make clear, the name of God is holy and rabbis have believed and taught for many years that the name of God should not pass through the unholy lips of men.
The name of God is believed to be unpronounceable today, but even in the early years, when some did know how to pronounce it, substitute names/words were used to avoid saying the name.
At some point, the Hebrew word meaning the Name was in use as an avoidance word. That word is haShem. But the rabbis ruled that even using haShem should be avoided because everyone know it meant the holy name of God.
So, they began to use only the beginning sound of haShem, Shhh. The Hebrew letter that stands for the shhh sound looks like our letter U with a third line placed between the two upward turned lines. The name of that letter is Shin (sheen, I think).
In Deut 12, God declares: “But unto the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, [even] unto his habitation shall ye seek, and thither thou shalt come:”
Now, if you look at an overhead shot of Jerusalem, note that there are two prominent valleys that run on either side of the city, and a minor valley running through the middle, more or less. Draw lines through those three valleys and connect the lines at the bottom. You have the Shin. The name of God, which he placed in Jerusalem
I also have a much longer teaching from Deut 12 & 14 involving the tithe, and what God’s real purpose is for the tithe (it ain’t what your pastor or priest says it is).
A moving photo and wonderful article. Thanks for the ping, onyx.
Just out of historical curiosity, is this the Sun of "If you see it in the Sun it's so" fame? You know, "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus?" I was not aware that paper still existed.
Amen.
If she were a boring, middle-of-the-road, compliant female, with no power, and who stuck to the agenda, EVERYONE would just LOVE her.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Muslims, the so-called extremists, are Liberal because they have found them to be useful idiots who are blind to the destruction they support.

Lots of folks. Motivated by evil, sad to say. The Good News is we know which side wins in the end.
