As if Democrats didnt have enough troubles on the ethics front with two trials coming up in the House. Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters have company after the Dallas Morning News reported that Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson gave scholarships from a charitable fund to four relatives and the two children of her aide. The scholarships violated an anti-nepotism rule that keeps Congressional Black Caucus members from using such charitable funds as payoffs and featherbedding accounts:
Only because, more often than not, it's effective.
Pretty soon they’ll decide they don’t want to be known as members of the Black Caucus....
Johnson-”Had there been more “very worthy applicants in my district,” she added, “then I probably wouldn’t have given it” to the relatives.”
Yes: It works. It has worked for years, but the card is getting worn.
The race card just ain’t what it used to be...except of course on MSNBC.
Whitey’s fault.
And what is so sad is at least 1/3 of Americans still hold the new Communists Party (formally the Democratic Party) the chosen party.
Eddie Bernice was just gettin’ her reparation on...
This is indeed an amazing statement.
Apparently in her entire district of 80,000 people, only she and her relatives are worthy of free government money. I know that I didn’t get any.
By the way, is Guam still in danger of tipping over?
First I’ve heard about the black caucus scholarships. I wonder who has been getting them in my district (gk butterfield’s)?
Nuff said ;^)
I’m beginning to think that to be a member of the Congressional Black Caucus one has to be crooked.
The whole race card thing has worn a little thin, and rapidly losing its effectiveness. The clever ruse at the 3/20 Kill the Bill rally was the first of its last cries.
This crook, er, Congressperson (but, I repeat myself) says she recognized the names when they came across her desk - but she signed off on them anyway because they were worthy of the award.
I suppose she should have recognized their names. Two were her own grandchildren, and two her grandnephews...
. . . . so Eddie B. ,, if I rob a bank and get caught all I gotta do is give da monies back and everything be alright ,, no harm done cause I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to .
If so, it is good to have Eddie as grandma.
